Job Description: Mainframe Operations Analyst

We are looking for entry-level to mid-level Mainframe Operations candidates for a contract-to-hire (CTH) position in San Antonio, TX. This role is crucial for maintaining our production environments and ensuring smooth operations. While the role is onsite, we are open to candidates who are willing to relocate at their own expense. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to learn and grow in mainframe operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mainframe operations in production environments.
  • Monitor, query, and manage job dependencies and reruns.
  • Respond to incidents and escalate issues as needed.
  • Ensure batch jobs are monitored effectively.
  • Work within shift-based or 24/7 operations environments.
  • Troubleshoot job failures by reading JCL.
  • Gain experience with mainframe scheduling tools.

Top Skills Targeted:

  • IBM Mainframe Operations: Experience in production environments is a must.
  • JCL Exposure: Must be able to read and troubleshoot job failures; not just awareness.
  • Mainframe Scheduling: Experience with scheduling tools. ZEKE is preferred, but CA7, ControlM, or similar are acceptable.
  • Monitoring & Incident Response: Experience with monitoring, querying, job dependencies, reruns, batch monitoring, incident response, and escalation. Schedule creation is not required for junior profiles.
  • Environment Adaptability: Comfortable working in shift-based or 24/7 operations environments.

Nice to Have / Good Fits:

  • Industry Background: Banking or financial services background is a plus.
  • Coachability: Entry-level candidates who are coachable and eager to learn.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $55,000 – $85,000 per year (Estimated)
