About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Micro Focus Developer with strong expertise in Open Systems to support and enhance legacy COBOL-based applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analysis, development, testing, and implementation of business applications using Micro Focus COBOL on UNIX or Linux platforms. Responsibilities include converting mainframe COBOL applications to distributed systems, optimizing code performance, and supporting integration with modern technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and maintain applications using Micro Focus COBOL.
- Migrate legacy COBOL applications to open systems environments.
- Collaborate with business analysts and QA teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Perform system analysis, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Work with RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) for data handling.
- Utilize version control tools and adhere to SDLC best practices.
- Support production deployments and issue resolution.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with Micro Focus COBOL in Open Systems (UNIX/Linux).
- Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and scripting languages (Shell, Perl, etc.).
- Experience in application modernization and migration.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Annuity experience and the technical capacity to pick up PolicyLink.
- Agile and Azure/Devops experience is a plus, not mandatory.
Special Requirements
Visa Independent candidates required. Annuities and insurance domain experience is a must.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $60 – $70 per year (Estimated)
