Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Middleware Engineer with specialized expertise in IIS and JBOSS Administration to join our dynamic IT infrastructure team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation, integration, and performance of enterprise-level applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of middleware environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance of critical platforms such as WebLogic, MuleSoft Anypoint, and IIS. This position requires a proactive professional capable of handling high-pressure production environments and providing 24×7 L2/L3 support to maintain business continuity. The role demands a deep understanding of how middleware components interact with the underlying operating system and the applications they host, ensuring high availability and optimal performance across the stack.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Execute the full lifecycle management of middleware components, including the installation, configuration, and regular patching of WebLogic, MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, and IIS servers to ensure security and performance.
- Provide comprehensive 24×7 L2/L3 production support, addressing critical integration issues and ensuring minimal downtime for enterprise applications.
- Utilize advanced monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, and Splunk to track application performance, server health, and messaging queues, identifying potential bottlenecks before they impact users.
- Perform deep-dive troubleshooting of complex technical issues, including the analysis of thread dumps, heap dumps, connection pooling, and JVM memory leaks to optimize system stability.
- Manage and maintain BizTalk server groups, overseeing host instances, adapters, and MessageBox databases to facilitate robust data exchange.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve technical support tickets within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs), conducting thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence.
- Support the integration of Adobe Document Generation API and AEM with various enterprise applications, ensuring smooth document processing workflows.
- Troubleshoot failures in document generation, template mapping, and API connectivity, maintaining high reliability for automated document services.
- Enforce strict compliance with security standards, specifically focusing on SSL/TLS protocols for secure document processing and data transmission.
- Collaborate effectively with developers and third-party vendors to implement permanent fixes and architectural improvements.
- Manage escalations with a professional demeanor, coordinating between technical teams and business stakeholders to resolve high-priority incidents.
- Provide specialized support for Oracle Application environments and WebLogic configurations.
- Demonstrate substantial expertise in setting up multiple domains, including Admin Servers and Managed Servers across diverse environments (Dev, QA, Production).
- Deploy WAR and EAR applications across various targeted servers within clustered environments, ensuring high availability and load balancing.
- Manage JMS Servers, including the configuration and maintenance of Queues and Topics for asynchronous communication.
- Drive operational excellence by automating repetitive tasks, workflows, and deployment processes to increase efficiency and reduce the risk of manual error.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in middleware administration with a focus on Microsoft and Java-based stacks. Proficiency in IIS (Internet Information Services) and JBOSS/WebLogic is mandatory. Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform is highly desirable as it forms a core part of our integration strategy. Candidates should be well-versed in Windows and Linux operating systems, as middleware often spans cross-platform environments. Knowledge of scripting languages (such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation is a significant advantage. Furthermore, familiarity with database connectivity (JDBC/ODBC) and messaging protocols is essential for troubleshooting integration points. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, along with relevant industry certifications.
Professional Environment and Expectations
This role demands a high degree of technical curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning. As the middleware landscape evolves with cloud-native technologies, the engineer will be expected to adapt to hybrid cloud configurations. The position offers the opportunity to work on large-scale enterprise projects that impact thousands of users. We value engineers who not only fix problems but also look for ways to improve the overall architecture through automation and better monitoring strategies. Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced environment where clear communication and documentation are as important as technical prowess. This role requires onsite presence in either Raleigh, NC or Phoenix, AZ.
Special Requirements
Onsite requirement for Raleigh, NC or Phoenix, AZ; 24×7 L2/L3 production support; Root Cause Analysis (RCA) focus; Experience with Adobe Document Generation API/AEM integration required.
