About the Opportunity

In the rapidly evolving technological landscape of 2026, quality engineering has moved beyond simple script execution. We are looking for a Mobile QE Automation Engineer who is “AI Ready”—someone who understands that the future of testing lies in the intersection of traditional automation and generative artificial intelligence. This role, located in the heart of Sunnyvale, CA, offers a unique chance to work on cutting-edge mobile technologies within a hybrid environment. As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our mobile ecosystem remains robust, scalable, and intelligent. This is a 12-month contract position designed for a high-level individual contributor who can drive innovation in the quality assurance space.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement advanced automation solutions for native iOS and Android applications, ensuring high reliability across various device types and OS versions.
  • Develop and integrate AI-powered testing agents that can autonomously identify UI inconsistencies and functional regressions using modern GenAI frameworks and APIs.
  • Lead the effort in creating “AI-first” testing workflows, reducing manual intervention and increasing the speed of the feedback loop within the development cycle.
  • Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks built on Appium and TestCafe, ensuring they remain compatible with the latest mobile OS updates.
  • Utilize JavaScript, Python, or Node.js to write clean, maintainable, and efficient automation code that adheres to industry best practices.
  • Oversee the integration of automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring that every code commit is validated against a rigorous suite of tests.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Developers to understand feature requirements and translate them into comprehensive test plans.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on quality engineering best practices, particularly in the context of mobile-first and AI-enhanced applications.
  • Debug complex environment issues and pipeline failures to maintain a high standard of continuous integration.

Required Technical Expertise

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the field of Quality Engineering, with a specific focus on mobile application automation.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with native mobile testing tools, specifically Appium and TestCafe, for at least 5 years.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Python, or Node.js, with the ability to build complex logic for automation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and deploying end-to-end automation frameworks for both native and web-based mobile applications.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD principles and hands-on experience debugging pipeline failures in real-time.
  • Practical experience with GenAI frameworks, including the use of LLM APIs to enhance testing capabilities or automate test case generation.

Desired Experience and Soft Skills

  • Prior experience in the eCommerce sector is highly desirable, as it provides the necessary context for high-volume, high-stakes mobile transactions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and present quality metrics to senior leadership.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in the testing space.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing independent tasks with collaborative on-site sessions in Sunnyvale.

Interview and Contract Information

This position is a 12-month contract with potential for long-term engagement. The interview process is streamlined, beginning with a WebEx/Video technical screening followed by deeper technical evaluations. Candidates must be local to Sunnyvale, CA, as the hybrid schedule requires regular office attendance. This is a “Local Only” requirement to ensure team cohesion and immediate availability for on-site hardware testing when necessary.
