Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Mobile Technical Lead to join our dynamic engineering team in McLean, VA. This is a 100% onsite position requiring a visionary leader who can bridge the gap between complex architectural design and hands-on delivery. As the Mobile Technology Lead, you will be the primary authority for our mobile ecosystem, responsible for architecting, designing, and delivering enterprise-grade mobile applications that serve a massive user base. You will work with a hybrid and native mobile stack, ensuring that our digital products remain at the forefront of innovation and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end mobile application architecture using Ionic and Capacitor for hybrid development and Swift for native iOS components.
- Define and enforce mobile development standards, coding guidelines, and best practices across the organization.
- Drive critical technical decisions related to application performance, security, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
- Provide hands-on development and conduct rigorous code reviews for AngularJS-based mobile applications.
- Design and implement native plugins using Capacitor to access device features such as camera, biometrics, secure storage, and push notifications.
- Integrate mobile applications with complex backend services, RESTful APIs, and third-party SDKs.
- Ensure strict compliance with Apple App Store guidelines, industry security standards, and accessibility requirements (WCAG).
- Mentor and guide a team of mobile developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Collaborate closely with UX designers, Product Owners, Backend Engineers, DevOps, and Security teams to ensure seamless delivery.
- Participate in all Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management.
- Implement mobile security best practices, including secure storage, encryption, authentication, and certificate pinning.
- Monitor production performance and resolve high-priority issues to support the full app lifecycle.
Technical Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software development with a significant focus on mobile technologies.
- Expertise in Ionic Framework for enterprise-scale mobile application development.
- Deep knowledge of Capacitor for native bridge and plugin development.
- Proficiency in AngularJS and Angular for mobile UI development and state management.
- Strong experience in Swift for native iOS development and plugin customization.
- Familiarity with Android native development using Kotlin or Java is highly preferred.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Bitrise.
- Knowledge of mobile security standards, specifically the OWASP Mobile Top 10.
- Experience with enterprise authentication protocols such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and biometrics.
- Proven track record of managing App Store and Play Store release processes.
Soft Skills & Domain Experience
- Strong technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A problem-solving mindset with a relentless focus on delivery and quality.
- Preferred experience in Banking, Financial Services, or other highly regulated industries.
Special Requirements
100% Onsite; Domain Experience Preferred: Banking, Financial Services, Credit Union; 6-month duration.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $175,000 – $225,000 per year (Estimated)
