Job Description: Mongo DBA

We are seeking an experienced Mongo DBA to join our team. This is an onsite position located in either Austin, TX or Sunnyvale, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the configuration, management, and optimization of MongoDB environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure MongoDB replica sets and sharded clusters according to application requirements.
  • Set up and manage MongoDB BRS & Ops-Mgr, onboarding replica sets and sharded clusters onto Ops-Mgr.
  • Implement MongoDB security enhancements using X509 and TLS authentication to comply with security standards.
  • Automate backup, restore, and monitoring jobs using Python and shell scripting.
  • Design, install, and configure multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets on Linux platforms.
  • Add or remove replica and shard nodes in MongoDB clusters as needed.
  • Create text indexes for querying specific documents with string content.
  • Ensure even distribution of data across multiple shards by understanding shard key concepts.
  • Convert replica sets to sharded clusters to accommodate data size growth and improve query rates.
  • Perform upgrades and migrations of replica sets and sharded clusters from version 4.0 to 4.xx.
  • Deploy, migrate data, monitor, analyze, and tune MongoDB instances.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of Ops Manager, including its upgrade process.
  • Manage Groups and Projects within Ops Manager.
  • Configure authentication and authorization, including X509 authentication.
  • Configure SSL key files to implement security across all mongod instances.
  • Leverage extensive knowledge of MongoDB replication architecture and change streams.
  • Document MongoDB installations, operations, security, and auditing across multiple environments.
  • Understand query plan architecture and perform performance tuning at both the host and database levels.
  • Manage range-based sharding and hash-based sharding/indexing.
  • Perform migration of MongoDB clusters to AWS.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a MongoDB DBA.
  • Strong understanding of MongoDB architecture, replication, and sharding.
  • Proficiency in Linux environments.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Shell).
  • Familiarity with Ops Manager and security best practices.
  • Experience with cloud migrations, particularly to AWS.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $120,000 – $160,000 per year (Estimated)
