Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our team at Unisys. This is a 100% onsite position in Albany, NY, serving the Albany, Troy, and Rensselaer areas. The role focuses on designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the network infrastructure, ensuring optimal network operations, and leading network-related projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs, implements, maintains, and supports the network infrastructure.
- Maximizes network operations by monitoring performance, troubleshooting problems and outages, and scheduling maintenance and periodic upgrades.
- Ensures the network is scalable, configured to meet business objectives, and available 24×7.
- Configures network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, etc.).
- Plays a lead role in providing global Network Engineering support.
- Configures and installs complex network devices, infrastructure, and systems.
- Ensures the ongoing performance of network maintenance and systems upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
- Monitors network security and risk metrics, tracks issues and exceptions to risk policies and standards, and liaises with Cybersecurity team members, suggesting process improvements and ensuring compliance with company security protocols and guidelines.
- Analyzes current network configuration, performance metrics, and business needs, recommending future infrastructure improvements.
- Works to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to network infrastructure.
- Handles incident response, including on-call duties.
- Supports WiFi, SD-WAN, LAN/SDN, and VPN technologies.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree and 6-8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with Cisco IOS stack.
- CCNA preferred, CCNP a plus.
- Familiarity with ITIL and ITOM.
- Experience resolving tickets and leading network-related projects.
- Experience with video, voice, data, automation, and security in network infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
