Role Overview: Network Security Analyst 2 (RSA Archer Specialist)

The State of Texas is seeking a highly skilled and certified Network Security Analyst 2 to join their mission-critical enterprise GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) team in Austin, Texas. This onsite position is pivotal in maintaining and optimizing the RSA Archer platform, which serves as the backbone for the state’s security control assurance and risk management frameworks. As a senior-level analyst, you will be responsible for the architecture, data modeling, and application configuration of the Archer environment, ensuring it aligns with complex business requirements and regulatory standards. The role demands a blend of technical expertise in security platforms and a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape governing public sector entities.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Scope

  • Expertly manage the RSA Archer platform architecture, including the design and implementation of complex data models, cross-references, and automated workflows that streamline risk assessment processes.
  • Translate intricate business requirements into technical configurations within the Archer environment to support GRC processes such as policy management, incident handling, and vendor risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain robust integrations between RSA Archer and external enterprise platforms using REST APIs and web services, ensuring seamless data flow across the organization.
  • Utilize JavaScript and jQuery for advanced client-side customizations to enhance user experience, create dynamic layouts, and implement custom validation logic within Archer applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security, risk, compliance, and IT stakeholders, to ensure comprehensive security control assurance and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Document all technical implementations, configurations, and change-control processes in accordance with state standards, providing a clear audit trail for all system modifications.
  • Provide independent technical leadership on complex implementations while supporting mission-critical enterprise operations that protect the state’s digital assets.
  • Perform regular system health checks, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure the RSA Archer environment remains highly available and responsive.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a mandatory Archer Certified Professional (ACP) or Level 3 Archer Certified Administrator Expert Certification. This certification is a non-negotiable requirement for this level of analyst.
  • Proven track record of supporting large-scale enterprise or government GRC implementations, demonstrating an ability to handle the scale and complexity of state-level infrastructure.
  • Deep familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST (specifically 800-53), ISO 27001, SOC 2, and various regulatory compliance programs relevant to government operations.
  • Experience integrating Archer with ITSM platforms like ServiceNow or Jira to streamline incident and risk management workflows and improve response times.
  • Strong proficiency in backend and frontend technologies relevant to Archer customization, specifically REST APIs, XML, and JavaScript.
  • Ability to work in a structured, change-controlled environment with high attention to detail and a commitment to following established security protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in the risk and compliance departments.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $115,000 – $160,000 per year (Estimated)
