Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer/Cybersecurity Engineer for a long-term contract position. This is a hands-on, operational cybersecurity role focused on security tooling ownership and day-to-day cyber operations experience. It is not a network-first, architecture-focused, consulting, design-heavy, or senior security architect position.
Location
Hybrid San Antonio, TX (4x/week onsite). Candidates must be local to Texas.

Required Skills
- Endpoint Security: Experience with CrowdStrike, Defender, Carbon Black, Tanium, etc.
- Email Security: Experience with Proofpoint, Defender for O365, IronPort, phishing investigations, rule tuning.
- Security Operations: Proven experience in security operations.
- Ticket-based environments: Experience with ServiceNow (preferred).
- Incident Response: Experience with incident response and remediation.
- Documentation & Collaboration: Ability to provide clear documentation and collaborate effectively with infrastructure teams.
- Proxy/Secure Access: Exposure to Zscaler, Umbrella, or similar is a plus.
- Automation: Exposure to PowerShell, Python, or scripting is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.
What This Role Is NOT
- Not network first (routing/switching/firewall architecture).
- Not a consulting or design heavy role.
- Not a senior security architect position.
