Role Overview

Tekskills Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Network Security Engineer to join our dynamic IT infrastructure team. This is a hybrid position based out of Atlanta, GA or Chicago, IL, offering a 12-month contract with a high probability of extension. As we move into 2026, the landscape of cyber threats continues to evolve, making this role critical for maintaining the integrity and security of our enterprise network environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Palo Alto Firewalls and Cisco networking technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive network security solutions utilizing Palo Alto Firewalls (PAN-OS) to protect enterprise assets.
  • Configure, deploy, and provide high-level support for GlobalProtect VPN to ensure secure and seamless remote access for a global workforce.
  • Manage and troubleshoot complex Cisco LAN switching and routing environments, including the configuration of VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP protocols.
  • Proactively monitor, analyze, and respond to network security incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing remediation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain rigorous firewall policies, NAT rules, and security profiles aligned with industry best practices.
  • Oversee SD-WAN deployments, including ongoing monitoring, performance optimization, and troubleshooting of connectivity issues.
  • Lead network segmentation projects and manage End-of-Life (EOL) switch replacements to modernize infrastructure.
  • Perform continuous network performance tuning and capacity planning to support business growth and application demands.
  • Ensure strict compliance with internal security standards and external regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Cloud and DevOps, to support network upgrades and large-scale migrations.
  • Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including architectural diagrams and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Technical Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. We require a minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in network security. Proficiency with Palo Alto Firewalls is mandatory, specifically with PAN-OS features and GlobalProtect. A solid foundation in Cisco routing and switching is essential, with a deep understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies. Familiarity with SD-WAN concepts and experience with network monitoring tools (such as SolarWinds or Splunk) will be highly regarded. Preferred certifications include Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE and Cisco CCNA/CCNP. Exposure to cloud networking environments like AWS or Azure is a significant plus as we continue our digital transformation journey.

Professional Skills

Beyond technical prowess, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You must be able to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively. The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, hybrid environment while maintaining high standards of documentation and security compliance is vital. We value engineers who stay ahead of the curve regarding emerging security threats and technological advancements in the networking space.
