Position Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Oracle EBS R12 Consultant specializing in Approval Management Engine (AME) and Workflow customization. This 12-month contract role, based in Houston, TX, follows a hybrid work model. You will be instrumental in streamlining business processes by automating and customizing approval workflows within the Oracle E-Business Suite environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong functional background combined with the technical skills necessary to implement complex business logic into the Oracle framework. This role requires a deep understanding of how financial and procurement data flows through an enterprise system and how to ensure that approvals are handled efficiently and securely.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and implement sophisticated approval workflows using Oracle AME to meet specific business logic and compliance requirements.
  • Customize standard Oracle EBS workflows using Workflow Builder, including process design, rule creation, and functional enhancements.
  • Perform detailed business process analysis to translate complex organizational requirements into functional AME rules and technical specifications.
  • Provide expert-level support for Oracle EBS R12 modules, specifically focusing on Financials (AP, AR, GL, FA), Procurement (PO), and Projects (PA).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve critical issues related to workflow failures, AME configuration errors, and integration bottlenecks between modules.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize existing processes and ensure system stability during upgrades, patches, or configuration changes.
  • Document technical designs, configuration steps, and test scripts to ensure compliance with internal audit standards and facilitate knowledge transfer.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience as a functional or techno-functional consultant in Oracle E-Business Suite R12.
  • Extensive expertise in Oracle AME (Approval Management Engine) configuration, attribute definition, and rule management.
  • Strong technical proficiency in Oracle Workflow Builder and PL/SQL for developing custom workflow processes and functions.
  • In-depth knowledge of EBS Financials modules, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Fixed Assets.
  • Experience with Oracle Procurement (PO) and Project Accounting (PA) modules is highly desirable for cross-functional workflow design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a hybrid environment while maintaining high productivity.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with both technical development teams and business users/stakeholders.

Detailed Functional Scope and Environment

In this role, your expertise in Oracle EBS Financials will be put to the test. You will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of approval processes within the Accounts Payable (AP) module, ensuring that invoice approvals follow strict corporate governance rules. In the Procurement (PO) module, you will configure complex hierarchies for purchase requisition approvals. Your understanding of the General Ledger (GL) will be crucial for journal entry workflow customizations. The project also involves the Fixed Assets (FA) and Project Accounting (PA) modules, where you will ensure that asset additions and project expenditures are routed correctly for authorization. A significant portion of your time will be spent in the Approval Management Engine (AME), where you will define attributes, conditions, and action types to create dynamic approval groups. This position is based in Houston, Texas, and requires a hybrid presence. This allows for face-to-face collaboration with the finance and IT teams while providing the flexibility of remote work. Houston is a major hub for enterprise technology, and this role offers the chance to network with industry leaders. You will participate in daily stand-ups and weekly progress meetings to ensure the project remains on track for its 12-month duration. We value clear communication and a disciplined approach to task management. You will be expected to use tools like Jira for tracking your work and Confluence for maintaining detailed functional and technical documentation.
