Role Overview

The PeopleSoft Administrator will be a cornerstone of the IT infrastructure team, tasked with the comprehensive management, security, and optimization of the PeopleSoft environment. In the evolving landscape of 2026, where enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are increasingly integrated with advanced analytics and hybrid cloud architectures, this role is vital for maintaining business continuity and operational excellence. The successful candidate will not only manage the technical stack but also act as a strategic partner in ensuring that the PeopleSoft infrastructure supports the organization’s broader digital transformation goals. This position requires a blend of deep technical expertise, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to operate in a high-stakes, 24/7 environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, administer, secure, and maintain the full infrastructure stack supporting PeopleSoft applications. This includes managing web servers (WebLogic), database servers (Oracle/SQL Server), application servers (Tuxedo), process schedulers, report servers, and file servers.
  • Manage and optimize environments across both Windows and Linux operating systems, ensuring seamless performance and high availability.
  • Conduct deep-dive research into complex issues involving application middleware, database performance, and OS-level bottlenecks.
  • Recommend and implement sophisticated solutions, including configuration adjustments to WebLogic, PeopleSoft, and Tuxedo to enhance system stability.
  • Perform capacity planning by evaluating hardware requirements and recommending upgrades to memory, CPUs, and storage to accommodate growth.
  • Develop, document, and maintain rigorous standards for PeopleSoft architecture and configuration, ensuring consistency across development, test, and production environments.
  • Establish and refine day-to-day operational procedures, protocols, and checklists to minimize human error and improve system reliability.
  • Utilize advanced monitoring tools to track system health, perform trend analysis, and execute performance tuning to optimize user experience and system throughput.
  • Lead and participate in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) exercises, including the design and testing of failover mechanisms and data recovery procedures.
  • Stay current with the latest security threats and patches; identify, download, and apply PeopleTools and PeopleSoft application upgrades, as well as Critical Patch Updates (CPUs) for middleware components.
  • Proactively research future releases of PeopleTools and PeopleSoft modules, providing strategic recommendations on how new features can be leveraged to improve business processes.
  • Take full ownership of new requests and projects, exploring innovative ways to add value to the IT department and the organization as a whole.
  • Maintain a 24/7 on-call readiness, providing critical support during off-hours, weekends, and holidays to ensure zero downtime for essential business services.

Technical Requirements and Environment

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in PeopleSoft administration. Deep technical knowledge of Oracle databases, including SQL tuning and RMAN, is highly preferred. Experience with PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) and Selective Adoption is essential for modern PeopleSoft management. Familiarity with cloud hosting environments (such as OCI, AWS, or Azure) and containerization technologies is a significant plus as the organization moves toward more agile infrastructure models.

Professional Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field is required. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot multi-tier application issues under pressure. Strong communication skills are necessary to interact with both technical teams and functional business analysts. The role demands a high level of integrity, as the administrator will have access to sensitive corporate data and critical systems.

Special Requirements

Serve in a 24/7 on-call capacity, working evenings and/or weekends as needed.
