Role Overview
The Performance Engineer for Enterprise Data Platforms and Master Data Management (MDM) is a critical role responsible for ensuring the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of high-volume data systems. In this position, you will lead the performance strategy for complex data ecosystems, focusing on how data flows through ingestion, synchronization, and governance layers. As organizations in 2026 move toward real-time data processing and AI-driven insights, the performance of the underlying MDM infrastructure becomes the backbone of corporate intelligence. You will be tasked with ensuring that these systems can handle massive throughput without compromising data integrity or system responsiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute comprehensive performance testing strategies, including load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests, specifically tailored for enterprise-grade MDM platforms.
- Validate the performance of complex data workflows, ensuring that data ingestion, matching, and merging processes meet strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Identify and diagnose performance bottlenecks across multiple layers, including the application code, database queries, API endpoints, and underlying cloud infrastructure.
- Develop realistic workload models based on production usage patterns to simulate real-world traffic and data volumes accurately.
- Integrate automated performance testing into existing CI/CD pipelines to ensure that performance regressions are caught early in the development lifecycle.
- Partner with architecture and engineering teams to provide actionable insights for system tuning and optimization, focusing on JVM tuning, database indexing, and network latency.
- Deliver detailed performance reports aligned with Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), providing clear, data-driven recommendations for executive stakeholders.
- Lead the adoption of observability and APM-based diagnostics to provide real-time visibility into system health during peak loads.
Technical Requirements and Stack
- Extensive experience in performance testing for enterprise data platforms and MDM systems such as Informatica MDM, STIBO, Reltio, or IBM InfoSphere MDM.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL performance tuning and query optimization to handle massive datasets efficiently across relational and NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard performance tools: JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, and Gatling.
- Strong understanding of API and microservices performance testing, including the use of observability tools like Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus.
- Proficiency in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with ETL and data pipeline validation in high-throughput environments, ensuring that data movement does not introduce systemic lag.
- Familiarity with modern architecture patterns, including microservices, event-driven systems, and distributed data platforms.
Strategic Impact
In this role, you are not just a tester but a performance architect. You will influence the design of next-generation data platforms by advocating for performance-first development. By identifying bottlenecks before they reach production, you save the organization significant operational costs and prevent downtime that could impact critical business decisions. Your expertise in MDM ensures that the ‘single source of truth’ remains fast and accessible, enabling the business to react to market changes with agility. This position requires a proactive mindset, a deep technical curiosity, and the ability to communicate complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Special Requirements
Interview: video call. Candidate must be available today or tomorrow morning for a technical video call with vendor. Remote role.
