Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled PLC Controls Engineer with 3rd shift availability for a W2 position. The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field, with over 5 years of experience in Electrical Controls/System Engineering. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in ladder logic, particularly with Allen-Bradley Systems (PLC5, SLC, and ControLogix 5000-5580), and HMI Design using FactoryTalk View and Ignition. Familiarity with Ethernet/IP, basic networking, and plant power distribution equipment is essential. Experience with robot teach points and programming code understanding, specifically Fanuc Robot Spot tool and Keyence Vision System Integration, is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing, developing, and troubleshooting all aspects of factory-based electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.
- Installation, programming, and technical support of PLC based hardware and software (AB, GE, Siemens).
- Testing and maintaining various electronic equipment or machinery for manufacturing and power transmission systems.
- Identifying and troubleshooting network communication issues and electrical problems on conveyor systems, motors, drives, pumps, etc.
- Utilizing computer-assisted engineering and design software.
- Evaluating existing components and/or systems for ongoing reliability.
- Developing, modifying, or writing operator interfaces and other platforms.
- Understanding and adhering to OSHA electrical safety rules and regulations (NFPA-70E, LOTO, Safe Cell Entry).
- Supervising, guiding, and directing plant maintenance technicians as required.
- Interpreting production requirements, identifying and addressing design parameters and engineering problems.
- Analyzing project requirements and performing technical calculations.
- Overseeing project workflow and supporting resources to ensure timely delivery, quality, and budget adherence.
- Developing electrical and software design of customized solutions, including manufacturing automation and safety systems.
- Supporting the build and validation of manufacturing automation and safety systems (pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons, robotic integration, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings).
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of Electrical Controls/System Engineering industry experience.
- Strong skills in ladder logic, preferably Allen-Bradley Systems (PLC5, SLC, ControLogix 5000-5580).
- Strong Skills in HMI Design, Preferably FactoryTalk View and Ignition; Wonderware. LabVIEW.
- Familiarity with Ethernet/IP and basic networking applications and practices.
- Working knowledge and understanding of plant power distribution equipment and controls.
- Experience and working knowledge of robot teach points and programming code understanding.
- Key Skills: Fanuc Robot Spot tool and handling operation (Teach point programming on pick and place transfer robots), Keyence Vision System Integration and FOV programming (IV3, IV4), 3D Fanuc Vision Robotics Understanding (preferred).
