Position Summary
Vkore Solutions is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated PLC Engineer for a 12+ month contract opportunity in Saint Joseph, MO. This hybrid role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge industrial automation technologies and contribute to significant projects for a major client. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5-6 years of hands-on experience in PLC programming and system integration. This position requires a professional who is not only technically proficient but also willing to travel to various customer sites across the United States, including locations in Milwaukee, Toledo, and Portland.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement sophisticated PLC programs using Allen Bradley (RSLogix 500, Studio 5000, CCW) and Siemens (TIA Portal, S7, SIMATIC 505) platforms.
- Analyze technical and operational constraints to create detailed project development and commissioning plans that meet client specifications.
- Configure and manage Kepware for OPC communication, ensuring seamless data exchange between industrial devices and enterprise systems.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data logging, reporting, and system integration, bridging the gap between the factory floor and IT infrastructure.
- Interact directly with clients to perform requirement analysis, provide technical support, and implement system enhancements.
- Perform on-site commissioning, troubleshooting, and support at various customer locations, ensuring systems are operational and efficient.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system architecture, source code, and hardware configurations to ensure long-term maintainability.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that automation solutions are integrated effectively with existing manufacturing processes.
Technical Expertise
- Extensive experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC hardware and software environments.
- Proficiency in HMI development using platforms such as FactoryTalk View and WinCC.
- Hands-on experience with the Ignition SCADA platform, including knowledge of scripting languages like Python and JavaScript.
- Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases in an industrial context.
- Familiarity with Kepware and OPC protocols for industrial connectivity.
- Knowledge of back-end computing infrastructure, including virtualization, operating systems, and networking, is highly desirable.
Travel and Logistics
This role involves significant travel (up to 50% or more depending on project phase) to various manufacturing plants across the U.S. Candidates must be flexible and willing to work on-site at locations including Milwaukee, WI; Toledo, OH; and Portland, OR. The ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously is crucial for success in this mobile environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to effectively manage client relationships and coordinate with on-site teams.

Salary: $100,000 – $150,000 per year (Estimated)
