Project Leadership: PMP-Certified PM for Modernization Initiatives
Software People Inc. is looking for a seasoned, PMP-certified Project Manager to lead high-stakes technology modernization projects in Albany, NY. This role requires a professional who can navigate the complexities of multi-divisional business modernization, coordinating between technical workstreams and executive leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of application remediation and system replacement initiatives, ensuring that all project activities align with strategic and operational goals. This is an onsite position requiring immediate availability and a commitment to high-level organizational leadership.
Core Responsibilities and Strategic Coordination
- Guide comprehensive planning and coordination across Systems Analysts, Business Analysts, and IT teams to meet project milestones.
- Develop and maintain rigorous project schedules, risk logs, and decision trackers using tools like MS Project, Jira, and Microsoft Planner.
- Facilitate critical working groups, including sprint planning and review sessions for Agile and hybrid teams.
- Monitor and manage interdependencies across various divisions, regions, and external agency partners to prevent bottlenecks.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level status reports and progress briefings to senior stakeholders and partner agencies.
- Manage task assignments and maintain accountability across cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of modernization goals.
- Adapt quickly to ad-hoc priorities and provide leadership support during critical project phases or escalations.
- Ensure consistent communication and alignment between technical implementation and business process components.
Qualifications and Professional Standards
The ideal candidate will bring over 7 years (84 months) of experience in managing large-scale technology projects. A mandatory PMP or PMI-ACP certification is required to demonstrate a mastery of project management methodologies. We are looking for a leader who has a proven track record in application modernization and system replacement, particularly within complex organizational structures. Excellent communication skills are paramount, as you will be interacting with both technical teams and executive leadership. Candidates must be prepared for an in-person interview process and must provide a completed I9 form for verification at the time of resume submission. This role demands a high level of integrity and a commitment to delivering quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $115,000 – $165,000 per year (Estimated)
