Smart IT Frame LLC is currently seeking a dedicated and highly proficient Technology Specialist to join our team as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator. Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance PostgreSQL database environments, ensuring they meet the rigorous demands of our applications.
- Oversee the administration of MongoDB clusters, focusing on sharding, replication, and performance tuning to handle large-scale data sets.
- Manage Azure Cosmos DB instances, leveraging its multi-model capabilities to provide low-latency access to data across different geographic regions.
- Conduct regular database health checks and performance audits to proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they impact users.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers and architects to optimize queries and ensure efficient data retrieval patterns.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Implement and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or data loss.
- Stay abreast of emerging database technologies and industry trends, providing recommendations for platform enhancements and upgrades.
- Provide support for critical database issues, ensuring maximum uptime for our services and contributing to the company’s technological advancement.
Technical Requirements and Skills
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a strong focus on PostgreSQL in a production environment.
- In-depth knowledge of MongoDB architecture and administration, including experience with NoSQL data modeling.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, specifically Azure Cosmos DB and related data services.
- Expertise in SQL performance tuning, including the use of explain plans, indexing strategies, and configuration adjustments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating database management tasks.
- Understanding of database security best practices, including encryption at rest and in transit, and role-based access control.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes in the context of database deployment.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts as they relate to database connectivity and security in a cloud environment.
