Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Power BI Platform Architect to lead the design, governance, and automation of the Power BI ecosystem. This is a backend, platform-focused role (not report/dashboard development) requiring deep expertise in Power BI architecture, APIs, DevOps integration, and enterprise-scale governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement enterprise-scale Power BI platform architecture ensuring scalability, performance, and security
- Establish and enforce governance frameworks including workspace management, data access policies, and compliance standards
- Develop automation solutions using Power BI REST APIs, Power, and/or Python for deployment, monitoring, and administration
- Build and maintain observability and monitoring solutions for Power BI environments (usage, performance, failures, cost tracking)
- Integrate Power BI with DevOps pipelines (CI/CD) for automated deployments and version control
- Collaborate with data engineering and cloud teams to align Power BI platform with broader data architecture
- Optimize capacity management (Premium/Fabric) and ensure efficient utilization of resources
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams on best practices and platform capabilities
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in BI/Data Engineering with strong focus on Power BI platform architecture
- Deep understanding of Power BI Service, Power BI Premium/Fabric, and tenant-level administration
- Hands-on experience with Power BI REST APIs, Power scripting, or Python automation
- Experience implementing DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, Git integration, automated deployments)
- Strong knowledge of security, governance, and compliance in enterprise BI environments
- Experience designing monitoring/logging frameworks for analytics platforms
- Familiarity with Azure ecosystem (Azure AD, Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
