About the Role
The Power Platform D365 Lead will be responsible for developing, testing, maintaining, and documenting Microsoft Power Platform and D365 solutions. This role involves delivering all development and testing applications and results within agreed-upon timeframes, or coordinating with supervisors in advance if timeframes cannot be met. The lead will conduct thorough testing, document results, and identify and implement best practices for naming conventions, environment strategies, security, and application life-cycle management. Applications will be implemented to ensure optimal performance, security, and data integrity, with proper change control procedures including documentation and rollback plans. Technical documentation suitable for application support will be produced.
Additionally, the role includes mentoring and guiding DPOR staff in the development and use of Power Platform / D365 solutions, providing technical consultation, training, and guidance on best practices, solution design, and governance standards. Collaboration with business users and IT leads to understand and document solution requirements and functionality is key, as is developing comprehensive solution documentation, including operational support manuals, user guides, workflow diagrams, and training materials.
The lead will actively coordinate with the Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) for the administration of DPOR’s Power Platform and D365 Environments. This includes engaging with appropriate VITA and DPOR personnel to ensure all assigned applications are running appropriately, securely, and performantly. Verification of application data, integrations, and environments for proper security, backup, retention, and recoverability according to approved schedules and disaster recovery standards is also a critical responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, maintain, and document Microsoft Power Platform and D365 solutions.
- Deliver development and test applications and results within agreed-upon timeframes.
- Conduct thorough testing and document results.

- Promote applications through appropriate environments with proper change control.
- Produce technical documentation for application support.

Requirements
- Proven experience with Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365.
- Strong understanding of application development, testing, and documentation.
- Experience in mentoring and guiding technical staff.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Familiarity with IT environment management and governance.
- Experience coordinating with external IT agencies (like VITA).
- Knowledge of data security, backup, and disaster recovery standards.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $100,000 – $140,000 per year (Estimated)
