Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PowerBuilder Software Developer to join our dynamic engineering team in Addison, Texas. This is a critical 6-month contract-to-permanent position that requires a blend of legacy system maintenance and modern application development. As a lead developer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of enterprise-grade applications, specifically focusing on our loan lending management and municipal licensing platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in PowerBuilder 2022 and Sybase Anywhere 2017, with a proven track record of migrating legacy systems and integrating complex third-party APIs to enhance business functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise-scale loan lending management applications using PowerBuilder 2022 and Sybase Anywhere 2017.
- Drive the integration of third-party REST and SOAP APIs to extend application capabilities and improve overall system performance.
- Execute the migration and modernization of legacy applications from PowerBuilder 12.5 to 12.6 and eventually to version 2022.
- Enhance and maintain existing municipal licensing systems utilizing SQL Server 2012 and modern database management techniques.
- Collaborate closely with Business Analysts and Product Owners to translate complex business requirements into robust technical specifications.
- Perform comprehensive system improvements, including database schema modifications, the creation of stored procedures, and the development of complex triggers.
- Update and modernize PowerBuilder User Interfaces (UI) to improve user experience and operational efficiency.
- Manage source control and repository workflows using GitHub and SourceTree, ensuring code integrity across the development team.
- Document all code changes, system enhancements, and architectural decisions within JIRA, adhering to Agile best practices and sprint cycles.
- Coordinate system enhancement priorities and participate in backlog grooming sessions with key stakeholders.
- Conduct thorough integration reviews, unit testing, and automate regression tests using modern toolsets to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Provide expert-level support during production deployments and monitor system operations for any anomalies or downtime.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional PowerBuilder development experience, specifically with versions 12.6 through 2022.
- Strong database programming skills with Sybase, SQL Server, or Oracle, including advanced SQL scripting.
- Proven experience in application integration using REST and SOAP web services.
- Proficiency in a diverse technology stack including C#, HTML, JavaScript, and Unix Shell scripting.
- Hands-on experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment using tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and tools like Bamboo.
- Knowledge of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and clinical process systems is considered a significant advantage.
- Experience with Business Process Improvement (BPI) and Preventive Maintenance methodologies.
Professional Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, though significant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory, as this role involves frequent interaction with both technical teams and business stakeholders. Candidates must be US Citizens or Green Card holders. This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring 3 to 4 days onsite at our Addison, TX facility. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who can work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $125,000 – $165,000 per year (Estimated)
