Role Overview: Product Owner/Manager (Payment Gateway)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Owner or Product Manager to join a dynamic team in New York City. This onsite role is critical for driving the evolution of commercial and wholesale payment systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep functional knowledge of the end-to-end payment lifecycle, specifically within large-scale, platform-level environments. You will be responsible for defining product strategy, managing backlogs, and ensuring the delivery of high-performance payment solutions that cater to both merchant-facing experiences and internal operational needs.
Key Responsibilities and Domain Expertise
- Lead the development and optimization of commercial and wholesale payment rails, including ACH, wires, cross-border FX, and banking rails.
- Design and manage merchant-facing portals, focusing on critical features such as refunds, reversals, reporting, tax statements, and transaction performance analytics.
- Develop internal operations tools, creating efficient screens and workflows for support teams and internal tooling.
- Oversee the end-to-end payment lifecycle, from initial merchant interaction through to backend reconciliation and final payouts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable platform-level payment experiences, drawing on best practices from industry leaders like Amazon or Walmart.
Technical and Professional Requirements
- 4 to 10 years of dedicated experience in Product Management or a hybrid Business Analyst/Product Manager role.
- Proven track record in the payments domain, specifically with payment gateways and wholesale banking systems.
- Strong understanding of push-to-card and PayPal-like payment flows.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable product roadmaps and technical specifications.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical engineering teams and business stakeholders.
Exclusions and Specific Constraints
- This role is strictly focused on digital and wholesale payments; candidates with backgrounds limited to EMV, hardware, or terminal-focused payments will not be considered.
- Candidates whose experience is exclusively in checkout optimization or top-of-funnel consumer payments may have limited applicability for this specific wholesale-focused role.
- The position is onsite in NYC, requiring local residency or willingness to commute daily.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
