Position Summary
Code Beacons is looking for a Senior Data Governance Specialist (Data Analyst IV) to support the development, execution, and continuous improvement of our client’s enterprise data governance framework in Houston, TX. This high-impact role serves as the vital bridge between business stakeholders, technical engineering teams, and compliance departments to ensure that organizational data is of the highest quality, fully protected, and utilized effectively to drive business value.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Data Governance (DG) policies, standards, and procedures to mature the organization’s data management capabilities.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable governance operating models, whether centralized, federated, or hybrid.
- Define and track Data Governance KPIs and metrics to assess the effectiveness of governance efforts and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define Data Quality (DQ) rules, metrics, and thresholds.
- Identify and document Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and coordinate root cause analysis for data quality issues with engineering teams.
- Manage metadata standards and ensure consistent application across all data platforms using tools like Atlan.
- Maintain the enterprise data catalog, including glossary terms, ownership assignments, classifications, and tags.
- Partner with engineering teams to document and automate data lineage to provide transparency into data movement and transformation.
- Support Data Owners and Stewards through the development of workflows and participation in stewardship committees.
- Ensure compliance with data retention, access, privacy, and risk control requirements, providing evidence for audits and compliance reviews.
- Govern master and reference data domains to ensure alignment across disparate systems.
- Perform hands-on configuration and monitoring within Atlan (metadata/lineage) and Monte Carlo (DQ rules/observability).
- Translate complex technical governance concepts into business-friendly content for stakeholders and executive leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess over 12 years of professional experience in data governance, metadata management, or data analytics. You must have a deep foundational understanding of data quality principles and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. Proficiency in SQL and Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, Looker, or Tableau is essential. Experience with modern data governance platforms like Atlan and data observability tools like Monte Carlo is highly preferred. This role requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $190,000 per year (Estimated)
