Job Summary: Program Lead – Maximo to SAP Conversion
The Program Lead will spearhead the migration of asset and work management processes from IBM Maximo to SAP S/4 HANA as part of a critical acquisition integration. This role drives transition strategy, ensures seamless data migration and system integration, maintains rigorous compliance with corporate standards, and orchestrates cross-functional teams and external vendors to deliver uninterrupted business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Program Leadership: Deliver on project timeline aligned with acquisition objectives. Partner with IT, business stakeholders, and vendors to align cutover schedules and testing phases.
- Data Migration & Validation: Oversee ETL processes for master and transactional data. Validate data integrity and ensure compliance with SOX and security standards.
- Training & User Enablement Strategy: Partner with the training team to orchestrate comprehensive training programs for Maximo to SAP migration. Develop adoption strategies addressing technical competency and operational readiness. Ensure training approaches consider cultural integration needs.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between IT teams, business units, and external vendors. Provide regular status updates and escalate risks proactively. Manage stakeholder expectations across diverse groups and locations.
- Risk & Crisis Leadership: Identify potential data gaps and develop contingency plans ensuring business continuity. Ensure alternate data provisioning methods when required.
Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Project/Program Manager to lead a critical enterprise-level migration program: onboarding newly acquired generation assets into Exelon’s SAP ecosystem (Maximo to SAP or other legacy systems to SAP). This is a high-visibility, time-sensitive role acting as the primary face to senior leadership and cross-functional teams. The PM will coordinate end-to-end migration activities, manage cutovers, drive stakeholder communications, mitigate risks, and ensure operational readiness on Day 1 for transferred plants and assets. This role emphasizes program leadership, stakeholder management, cutover planning, and readiness over deep technical coding ability in SAP.
Key Responsibilities (Detailed):
- Program Leadership & Governance: Own end-to-end delivery of the asset migration project(s), managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, and issues. Define and run program governance (steering committees, executive dashboards, status reporting cadence). Maintain a clear RACI across all workstreams (SAP leads, data conversion, Maximo teams, Ops, IT, vendors, training, communications).
- Cutover & Migration Planning: Develop detailed cutover plans for each plant/asset migration (pre-cutover validation, final data load, acceptance criteria, rollback contingencies). Drive cutover rehearsals, runbooks, and checklists; ensure stakeholders are prepared for go/no-go decisions. Coordinate sequencing/timing of staggered plant migrations and ensure minimal operational disruption.
- Stakeholder & Executive Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact to senior leadership; present status, risks, mitigation plans, and critical decisions. Translate technical issues into concise executive-level summaries and recommended actions. Manage expectations and deliver real-time escalation and resolution pathways.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Orchestrate work across data conversion teams, SAP functional leads, Maximo SMEs, operations, training, change management, communications, and vendor partners. Ensure deliverables from technical teams are understood, validated, and packaged for operational consumption.
- Data & Business Process Readiness: Ensure data conversion completeness and reconciliation (data mapping, validation, reconciliation reports, post-migration verification). Ensure business processes, work management, and operational procedures are ready and tested in SAP prior to cutover.
- Risk Management & Issue Resolution: Proactively identify risks, produce mitigation plans, and drive rapid resolution. Escalate critical issues to leadership with clear recommended decisions and impact analyses.
- Change Management & Training Coordination: Coordinate training plans, user acceptance testing (UAT), and go-live support. Work with communications/change teams to prepare operations staff for new SAP processes and tools.
- Vendor & Contract Coordination: Manage third-party vendors, track deliverables, and ensure compliance with contract SLAs and MSAs.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience in Maximo-to-SAP migration projects.
- Strong Program/project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- Strong Written and Verbal Communication skills.
- Strong Presentation skills as this role will require presenting to senior leadership periodically.
- Demonstrated experience running high-visibility, mission-critical cutovers and multi-stakeholder migrations.
- Strong familiarity with SAP as an enterprise ERP (functional understanding of modules relevant to generation assets).
- Exposure to Maximo or other asset management systems and experience with Maximo to SAP migration projects highly desirable.
- Experience overseeing data conversion activities, reconciliation, and migration validation processes.
- Strong executive presence; comfortable presenting to and influencing senior leaders.
- Able to lead cross-functional teams, serve as face to leadership, and make timely, informed decisions.
- Strong capability to anticipate issues, design contingencies, and orchestrate rapid mitigation.
- Familiarity with program tools: MS Project / Primavera or similar for scheduling; JIRA/ServiceNow/other issue trackers for team-level coordination; advanced Excel for reconciliations and cutover checklists.
- Experience with collaboration tools (Teams, Slack) and reporting/dashboards (Power BI or comparable).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience managing Maximo to SAP migrations or EAM migrations for utilities/energy companies.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent program management certification.
- Experience with M&A-related integrations and knowledge transfer processes.
- Comfortable with technical stakeholders and able to facilitate conversations between technical SMEs and business leadership.
Special Requirements
Must be able to complete background check and drug screening quickly. Eligible to work with the client under their contracting model (must be a direct vendor or able to comply with client MSA/VMS requirements).
