Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Project Manager for an onsite position in Brooklyn, NY. This role involves managing complex IT projects, coordinating team activities, and serving as the primary point of escalation for issues and risk management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, preferably within the public sector or a highly regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning and coordinating team activities.
- Provide overall project management for different workstreams.
- Serve as the first point of escalation for issues and risk management.
- Assist with Program Intake, work planning efforts, Release Management, and Support & Maintenance activities.
- Work closely with the Product Manager and Leadership team to execute work plans, remove blockers, and deploy new features.
- Oversee releases from initial requirements gathering through final delivery and ongoing support.
- Ensure timely completion, product roadmap alignment, and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
- Manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Identify potential project risks or bottlenecks early and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support management of projects involving development groups both inside and outside the core 311 application team.
- Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings and provide clear, concise status reports to executive leadership.
- Confer with project personnel to identify and resolve problems quickly.
- Work with the team and product owner to release new product features while maintaining quality.
- Coordinate Release Management across workstreams and environments; manage release paths and resolve contentions.
- Follow Change Management processes to obtain necessary approvals for production deployment.
- Coordinate and manage Production outages, including engaging other teams, vendors, and consultant resources.
- Deliver digital applications by acting as the agile delivery manager for multidisciplinary product teams.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Project Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience managing complex IT projects, preferably within the public sector or a highly regulated industry.
- Strong project management capabilities with the ability to break down large projects into manageable tasks, assign them clearly, and track dependencies.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects with competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation and public speaking abilities.
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps project management software.
- Knowledge of risk management techniques and mitigation planning.
- Awareness of current technology trends and tools.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies and their application to government workflows.
- Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
Additional Information:
This is an onsite position in Brooklyn, NY, with a duration of 12+ months and 35 hours/week. Phone/Skype hire is possible. Software People, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
