Role Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) is seeking a highly experienced and certified Project Manager to lead the ‘Get Kids Ready’ program. This high-profile initiative is critical to the department’s mission and requires a professional capable of managing complex business area projects from inception through full implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating development efforts, managing multi-faceted workplans, and ensuring that all project milestones are met with precision and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive project management functions across all assigned initiatives, including the oversight of detailed workplans, timelines, and evaluation efforts.
- Facilitate robust engagement with both external and internal stakeholders, communicating project status effectively to Department Management Teams, workgroups, providers, and advocacy organizations.
- Innovate and develop automated tools designed to streamline internal processes, making project development and execution efforts significantly more efficient.
- Design, plan, and coordinate cross-functional work teams following the Project Management Institute (PMI) framework and standard industry best practices.
- Define project organization and methodologies, establishing clear roles and responsibilities for all team members.
- Create and maintain project charters and work plans, tracking budget and schedule progress via appropriate performance metrics.
- Identify, document, and manage project risks, developing proactive mitigation plans to ensure project continuity.
- Manage project scope rigorously to prevent scope creep and ensure alignment with the project sponsor’s objectives.
- Build and lead effective project teams, assigning tasks based on expertise and evaluating outcomes to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Identify, track, and ensure the resolution of issues while removing barriers to project success.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project team members, handling complex application features and technical designs when necessary.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of 11 years of professional experience in Project Management.
- 11 years of experience in the development of Project Artifacts, including project plans, charters, and status reports.
- 7 years of experience in preparing detailed written reports for diverse audiences.
- 5 years of experience preparing and delivering executive-level briefings.
- 5 years of proficiency in MS Project or an equivalent project management software suite.
- An active PMP Certification or a recognized project manager curriculum degree is REQUIRED at the time of submission.
- Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with minimal direction and oversight.
Work Environment and Location
This position is currently remote; however, the candidate MUST be a resident of Wisconsin or be willing to relocate to Wisconsin prior to starting the role at their own expense. While onsite work is not currently expected, the candidate must be prepared to come onsite in Madison, WI, if required by the department. Local candidates are strongly preferred.

Visa: GC, GC-EAD, H4-EAD. Interview: Zoom/Teams. Must be WI resident or relocate at own expense. PMP required at submission. No fake candidates.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $125,000 – $165,000 per year (Estimated)
