Role Overview

Oceanblue Solutions is seeking an experienced Contract Project Manager to lead retail Point of Sale (POS) system implementations across multiple locations. This role is designed for a disciplined project management professional with deep domain expertise in retail technology. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end deployment activities, ensuring that POS solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the rigorous operational requirements of a dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead POS implementation projects from initial discovery and planning through go-live and post-implementation stabilization.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including detailed timelines, resource allocation, risk registers, and dependency maps.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal IT teams, third-party vendors, system integrators, and store-level stakeholders.
  • Provide on-site leadership during critical deployment phases, including cutover planning, hardware installation oversight, and immediate issue resolution.
  • Track and report project status, financial health, and key milestones to executive leadership and steering committees.
  • Manage change requests and scope adjustments dynamically during project execution to prevent scope creep while meeting business needs.
  • Oversee testing coordination, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and ensure training readiness for store associates.
  • Facilitate the operational handoff to support teams following successful stabilization.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of dedicated project management experience, specifically within retail technology or large-scale system rollouts.
  • Proven expertise with POS systems, including store systems, payment gateways, peripherals (scanners, printers), and backend integrations.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, store-level execution challenges, and the impact of technology on customer experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to various project sites as required by the implementation schedule.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large-scale, multi-location POS rollouts (100+ sites).
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or Scrum Master (CSM).
  • Prior experience working with major third-party POS vendors and global system integrators.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $110,000 – $160,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Charlotte, NC
