Role Overview: PSA Engineer – Network – Transmission

Cloud 9 Tech LLC is seeking a highly specialized PSA Engineer with a focus on Network and Transmission systems to join our mission-critical operations team. This role is pivotal in maintaining the stability and efficiency of Electric Transmission EMS/SCADA systems, which serve as the backbone of modern power grid management. As we move into 2026, the complexity of real-time power system applications (PSA) continues to grow, requiring engineers who not only understand the legacy foundations of SCADA but are also proficient in modern automation, data modeling, and secure system integration. The successful candidate will work in a high-stakes environment where system uptime and data integrity are paramount.

Core Technical Responsibilities

  • System Configuration and Support: You will be responsible for the end-to-end configuration, customization, and ongoing support of Electric Transmission EMS/SCADA systems. This includes hands-on work with GE Reliance (XA/21) or equivalent platforms such as Siemens, OSI, ABB, or Schneider Electric.
  • Data Modeling and Integration: Perform complex SCADA data modeling and database configuration. You will ensure seamless real-time system integration, managing how data flows from field devices to the central management console.
  • Troubleshooting and Resolution: Analyze system logs, debug files, and system alerts to identify and resolve communication, application-level, and hardware-related SCADA issues. This requires a deep understanding of both the software stack and the underlying network infrastructure.
  • Maintenance and Patching: Install critical operating system patches and third-party software updates (including Oracle and NetApp) on live production systems. You must be comfortable implementing fixes in mission-critical environments where downtime must be minimized.
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain sophisticated scripts for system configuration, monitoring, and automation using Python, Shell, or other relevant languages to improve operational efficiency.
  • Database Management: Work extensively with Oracle databases, utilizing SQL and PL/SQL for data management tasks and performance tuning.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: 6 to 8 years of dedicated experience in Electric Transmission EMS/SCADA implementation and support.
  • Programming Proficiency: Strong background in C and Java, with a preference for candidates who have experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
  • Operating Systems: 5+ years of experience managing Linux and Windows environments, including log analysis and system debugging.
  • Tools: Proficiency with version control and project management tools such as GitHub, ClearCase, MS Project, and Primavera.
  • Domain Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of Power Systems Engineering, EMS/SCADA Architecture, and Power System Applications (PSA).

Professional Environment and Collaboration

This position requires a collaborative mindset, as you will work closely with clients on technical discussions, troubleshooting sessions, and the implementation of complex solutions. You will be expected to maintain meticulous system documentation and configuration records to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal protocols. Whether based in Melbourne, FL, or Bellevue, WA, you will be part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to the future of energy transmission and grid reliability.

Special Requirements

Domain restrictions: Power Systems Engineering, Electric Transmission Systems. Experience with GE Reliance (XA/21) or equivalent EMS/SCADA platforms required.
