Scope of Services:

BMC Administrator – Public Safety Automation & Infrastructure Management

1. Platform Administration & Environment Oversight:

The BMC Administrator will serve as the primary system administrator responsible for the end-to-end administration, maintenance, and operational upkeep of the BMC TrueSight and BMC Discovery environments. This includes the full deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of the TrueSight suite of products and BMC Discovery across the entire Public Safety Answering Center (PSAC) infrastructure supporting NYPD, FDNY, EMS, and DOITT.

2. Server Patching & Lifecycle Management:

The administrator will plan, coordinate, and execute critical server patching activities for management servers, Vesta, and NICE systems utilizing BMC BladeLogic Server Automation (BSA). All patching activities will be scheduled and managed to minimize operational risk and ensure continuity of public safety services.

3. Endpoint & Desktop Patch Management:

Using BMC Client Management (BCM) – BladeLogic Desktop Patching – the administrator will coordinate and deploy patches to critical call-taking positions across the PSAC environment. All endpoint patching activities will be carefully planned and executed to ensure zero disruption to active call takers, supervisors, platoon leaders, radio dispatch operators, and support personnel during operations.

4. Enterprise Monitoring & Incident Management:

The administrator will provide operational support for the Public Safety 911 enterprise monitoring environment, leveraging BMC BladeLogic Server Automation (BSA) and BMC Application Discovery and Dependency Mapping (ADDM). Responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions for known errors to maintain the highest levels of system availability and reliability.

5. Security, Compliance & Vulnerability Management:

The administrator will partner closely with the security team to establish and enforce configuration baselines, governance standards, and compliance policies across all managed systems. This includes proactively identifying and remediating vulnerabilities, supporting audit and compliance reporting, and responding rapidly to zero-day vulnerabilities to protect critical public safety infrastructure.

6. Workstation Standardization & OS Provisioning:

The administrator will develop and implement a standardized OS deployment and bare-metal provisioning process for all new workstation builds across the PSAC environment. This ensures consistency, security, and operational readiness for all end-user systems supporting public safety operations.

7. Asset Discovery, Automation & CMDB Management:

The administrator will standardize and automate the discovery and configuration of over 2,000 nodes across the PSAC infrastructure. Working directly with NYPD, FDNY, and NICE stakeholders, the administrator will implement automated asset tracking and CMDB integration to eliminate reliance on manual spreadsheets, improve asset visibility, and ensure accurate, real-time configuration data across all managed environments.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 12 years of experience in engineering.
  • Server Patching and Lifecycle Management: Manage enterprise server patching and remediation using BMC True Sight Server Automation (TSSA / BladeLogic). Plan, schedule, deploy, and report on patching activities across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Truesight Server Automation Administration: Act as System Administrator and SME for BMC TrueSight Server Automation (BladeLogic). Maintain TSSA infrastructure, job configuration, compliance content, and operational workflows. Perform upgrades, troubleshooting, and platform maintenance.
  • Scripting and Automation Expertise: Subject Matter Expertise required in Bash / scripting, Power, Python and the ability to develop automation scripts, integrations, and operational tooling to support True Sight platforms.
  • BMC Client Management (BCM) Administration: Administrative-level knowledge and operational support of BMC Client Management. Software deployment, inventory management, remote control, and endpoint configuration.
  • BMC Discovery Operations: Operational skill set in BMC Discovery (ADDM). Discovery configuration, scanning, troubleshooting, and data quality management. Integration of discovered assets with CMDB.
  • CMDB and Asset Management: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with: BMC Remedy CMDB Asset Management processes and CI data management, reconciliation, normalization, and relationship mapping.
  • Candidates are required to have at least 10 years of experience in items listed above and with BMC automation toolset.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $60 – $80 per year (Estimated)
