Job Title: Python Data/Quantitative Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Python Data/Quantitative Engineer to join our team. This role involves building and maintaining a big-data pipeline for data processing and analysis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Python, AWS, and various big data technologies.
Location:
- Onsite 2-3 days per week in Reston, VA.
- Must be local to Reston, VA with no more than a 45-minute commute.
- No relocation assistance provided.
Employment Type & Duration:
- Contract role with a duration of 6+ months.
- Rate: $60-65/hr on W2.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a big-data pipeline using strong Python development skills for data processing and analysis.
- Utilize Hadoop EMR, Spark, Pyspark, Hive, AWS, and Terraform for end-to-end automation.
- Collaborate within a team of developers to assist with development tasks.
- Advise on best possible solutions and tools to use for data processing and pipeline development.
- Work with AWS services such as Lambda, Eventbridge, Step Functions, Redshift, S3, and Glue.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like Gitlab and Terraform.
- Perform data analysis and mining on large datasets to extract meaningful insights.
- Make API calls, execute SQL queries, and perform data manipulation, transformation, analysis, and visualization.

Qualifications:
- 10+ years of hands-on Python development experience for big data applications.
- Extensive working experience in implementing scalable and efficient data processing pipelines using big data technologies like Hadoop/EMR, Spark, Hive.
- Strong development experience in AWS platforms/services (Lambda, Eventbridge, Step Functions, Redshift, S3, Glue).
- Extensive hands-on development experience in making API calls, SQL queries, data manipulation/transformation, analysis, and visualization.
- Solid understanding and hands-on implementation experience in CI/CD pipelines, familiar with tools such as Gitlab/Terraform.
- Critical thinking and strong analytical skills to drive solutions, alternative plans, and conclusions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and form positive partnerships across a matrixed organization.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have:
- AI (Some AWS AI background is a plus)
- Vulnerability management background (Tenable, Wiz, Kenna)
- Financial / Mortgage industry background
Interview Process:
- Two rounds of Phone/Skype interviews.
