Role Overview: Senior QA Automation Engineer
We are seeking a highly experienced QA Automation Engineer with over 12 years of professional experience to join our dynamic team in Houston, TX or Chicago, IL. This is a critical role requiring a Day 1 onsite presence. As a senior member of the quality assurance department, you will be responsible for driving the automation strategy, ensuring the robustness of our software products, and maintaining high standards of quality throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of both functional and automation testing, specifically focusing on API testing and complex framework development.
Key Technical Responsibilities
- API Testing & Automation: Demonstrate expert-level skills in API testing, covering both functional validation and automated test suite creation. You will be expected to validate complex data structures and ensure seamless integration between microservices.
- Framework Development: Independently develop, update, and maintain sophisticated automation frameworks. You will utilize tools such as Maven and TestNG to build scalable and reusable test scripts.
- CI/CD Integration: Work extensively with CI/CD pipelines and Jenkins to ensure that automated tests are integrated into the build process, providing immediate feedback to the development team.
- Test Strategy & Planning: Analyze business requirements to derive comprehensive test estimations. You will be responsible for preparing detailed Test Plans, Test Strategies, and identifying specific testing requirements for each release.
- Execution & Reporting: Perform Sanity, Functional, and Regression testing. You will be tasked with consolidating testing reports and providing final release sign-off reports to stakeholders.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Stakeholder Interaction: Act as a primary point of contact for Business Teams to clarify requirements. You will work closely with offshore functional and automation leads to drive testing initiatives and ensure global alignment.
- Agile Participation: Actively participate in Requirements grooming sessions, Daily Scrums, business review calls, and release cut-over calls. Your insights will be vital in identifying potential risks early in the sprint.
- Mentorship: Review Test Strategies, Test Plans, and Test Cases developed by junior team members to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.
- Bug Life Cycle Management: Maintain a high level of awareness regarding the Bug Life Cycle. You will report issues, prioritize defects, and represent the QA team in release sign-off meetings.
Professional Requirements and Environment
This position requires a proactive ‘get things done’ attitude and the ability to handle projects independently from inception to completion. Excellent communication skills are mandatory, as you will be interacting directly with clients and cross-functional internal teams. Candidates must be flexible and ready to support operations within the Central Standard Time (CST) zone. Given the seniority of this role, we are looking for individuals who can own the entire test cycle and ensure end-to-end testing integrity.
