Position Summary

The QA Engineer position is a vital role focused on ensuring the reliability and performance of software applications through advanced automation techniques. In 2026, the demand for high-quality, automated testing has never been higher, and this role sits at the forefront of that movement.

Automation Frameworks and Tools

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts using Cypress and Pytest.
  • Testing APIs to ensure seamless integration between microservices.
  • Performing complex SQL queries to validate data integrity within the database.
  • Automating regression suites to ensure stability across releases.

CI/CD Integration

  • Working within an Azure DevOps environment to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Using GitHub for version control and participating in code reviews.
  • Ensuring that every code change is thoroughly vetted before reaching production.

Shift-Left Testing Philosophy

The engineer will advocate for a shift-left approach, where testing is integrated early in the development lifecycle. This helps identify defects sooner, reducing the cost of fixes and improving overall software quality.

Remote Collaboration

Although the position is “mostly remote,” strong communication skills are listed as “IMPORTANT,” reflecting the need for:

  • Clear and concise reporting of bugs, risks, and test results.
  • Active participation in sprint planning and providing estimates for testing efforts.
  • Collaborating with developers to reproduce and resolve complex issues.

Performance and Scalability Testing

In addition to functional automation, the QA Engineer will be encouraged to explore performance and scalability testing. As applications grow, ensuring they can handle increased loads is crucial. The engineer will work with the development team to identify performance bottlenecks and suggest optimizations.

Security Testing Integration

With the rise of cyber threats, integrating basic security checks into the automation suite is a plus. The QA Engineer will ensure that common vulnerabilities are checked during the automated testing phase, providing an extra layer of defense for the application.

Mentorship and Leadership

As a senior member of the QA team, the engineer may be called upon to mentor junior testers. This involves sharing best practices for automation, conducting code reviews for test scripts, and helping others grow their technical skills.

Data-Driven Testing

The use of SQL for data validation is a key part of this role. The engineer will develop data-driven test cases that can be executed against various datasets, ensuring the application behaves correctly under different data conditions.

Conclusion

This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who can work independently in a remote setting while remaining deeply integrated with the team’s goals and objectives. The focus on automation reflects a shift towards more efficient, scalable testing processes that reduce manual overhead and accelerate time-to-market.

Special Requirements

Mostly remote. Strong communication skills required. 5+ years QA experience.
