Position Summary
R Consulting Inc (RCI) is looking for a dedicated QA Testing Specialist for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity local to Baltimore, MD. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and reliability of complex, public-facing health exchange systems. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of software validation, from writing test cases to executing integrated, scenario-based User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive software validation and testing, including the creation of detailed test cases and mapping requirements to test scenarios.
- Validate system functionality and perform rigorous regression, integration, and interface testing.
- Prepare all required test documentation, design test data, and evaluate results for conformance with design specifications.
- Translate verbal and written requirements into effective test scenarios for complex health exchange systems.
- Execute test cases and meticulously document results, identifying and tracking defects through resolution with development teams.
- Create and manage test plans and calendars to coordinate tasks and establish project timelines.
- Utilize performance testing techniques, including modeling, establishing baselines, and profiling system performance.
- Leverage industry-standard tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or BlazeMeter to simulate usage and load in large enterprise environments.
- Perform API services testing using ReadyAPI or similar tools to ensure robust backend connectivity.
- Conduct peer reviews of test cases and plans to maintain high quality assurance standards.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and work closely with stakeholders to validate business requirements.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must possess a minimum of four years of experience in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) specifically for complex public-facing systems. At least two years of experience in testing web applications is required, along with proficiency in defect-tracking tools like JIRA. A solid understanding of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, is essential. We are looking for individuals with strong analytical skills and a proven track record of working effectively with stakeholders across multiple functional teams.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with four or more years of experience as a Java/Web application tester and extensive experience testing across multiple browsers and back-end processing systems. Experience in mobile testing, data migration, and data integrity testing is highly valued. Proficiency in backend database testing using SQL or PostgreSQL, including the ability to write complex queries, is a significant advantage. Experience with State-Based Health Insurance Marketplaces or other healthcare systems is strongly preferred.
Special Requirements
Local to Baltimore MD only. Contract to Hire. Flexible for overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. Domain: Healthcare Systems.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $95,000 – $135,000 per year
