Job Description: Qlik Administrator
The Qlik Administrator will be responsible for the administration, configuration, and optimization of the Qlik platform, encompassing QlikView, Qlik Sense, and NPrinting, within the organization’s shared platform environment. Collaborating closely with data engineers, developers, and database administrators, your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, performance, stability, and observability of the Qlik environment. The Qlik Administrator will be pivotal in mitigating critical challenges such as resource contention, data integrity concerns, performance bottlenecks, data governance complexities, and security vulnerabilities. Your strategic approach and technical proficiency will be essential in implementing best practices, optimizing Qlik processes, enforcing data governance policies, and fostering seamless collaboration through robust monitoring, clear communication, and well-defined governance processes.
- Install, configure, and upgrade Qlik platform components, including QlikView Server, Qlik Sense Server, NPrinting Server, and associated services.
- Manage Qlik repositories, user access, security settings, and license allocation across the Qlik environment.
- Monitor and tune Qlik processes for optimal performance, addressing resource contention issues and ensuring efficient utilization of shared resources.
- Implement and enforce data governance policies and standards within the Qlik platform, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Collaborate with data engineers and developers to optimize Qlik applications, data models, and ETL processes for performance and scalability.
- Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerts to proactively identify and resolve issues related to performance, stability, and observability within the Qlik environment.
- Coordinate with database administrators to ensure proper database configurations, indexing, and partitioning strategies for efficient data loading and querying.
- Implement and maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and backup solutions for the Qlik platform to ensure business continuity and data protection.
- Provide training and support to Qlik developers and users, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
- Stay up-to-date with Qlik product releases, patches, and updates, and plan and execute upgrades as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address data integration, dependency management, versioning, and change management requirements within the shared platform environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent work experience. (Note: A Master’s degree is preferred.)
- At least seven (7) years of IT and business/industry work experience.
- Seven (7) years of experience as a Qlik Admin, with hands-on experience in Qlik platform administration, configuration, and optimization.
- Strong understanding of ETL processes, data integration concepts, and data warehousing principles.
- Proficiency in SQL, scripting languages (e.g., Windows PowerShell, Bash), and database administration tasks.
- Experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring Qlik applications and processes.
- Knowledge of data governance principles, data quality management, and data security best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and project management practices.
- Experience in building distributed multi-tier applications.
- Experience in continuous integration (CI) and automated deployment on AWS cloud platforms.
- Practical knowledge of Jenkins, Maven, and Sonar.
- Experience with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
Specialized Experience:
- At least three (3) years as a technical expert in an IT organization, coaching and mentoring junior technical staff.
- Provide technical input into complex and high-impact IT decisions.
- Accountable for complex enterprise-wide applications and issues, translating highly complex concepts for peers and customers.
- In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art programming languages and object-oriented approach in designing, coding, testing, and debugging programs.
- In-depth knowledge of data engineering best practices, including data modeling, ETL design, and data warehousing.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred qualifications include a technical background and experience in data and AI/ML projects.
- Functional experience with local or government projects in Data Services (MDM/R360/EDMS), Child Support, Integrated Eligibility, Child Welfare, Adult Protective Services, Juvenile Justice, or Health and Human Services is also preferred.
Special Requirements
Need local to MD, VA and DC with local ID. Experience in building distributed multi-tier applications. Experience in continuous integration (CI) and automated deployment on AWS cloud platforms. Compensation & Location
Salary: $100,000 – $140,000 per year (Estimated)
