Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Rhapsody Integration Engineer for a long-term, remote-eligible project supporting a Fortune 500 client. This role is critical for maintaining and evolving complex healthcare data exchange interfaces. The successful candidate will leverage extensive experience with the Rhapsody Integration Engine to facilitate seamless data flow across various healthcare platforms.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement complex interfaces using Rhapsody Integration Engine V6 or higher.
  • Utilize Symphonia Mapping Language (SML) to create sophisticated data transformations and mappings.
  • Manage and troubleshoot HL7 message types, specifically focusing on V 2.3.1 through 2.5.1, including ORU and ORM messages.
  • Develop and maintain XML, XSD, and XPath configurations for modern data exchange protocols.
  • Write advanced SQL join statements to interact with backend databases and ensure data integrity.
  • Implement custom logic using JavaScript within the Rhapsody environment to handle non-standard integration requirements.
  • Configure and manage SOAP Web Services for secure, cross-platform communication.
  • Collaborate with Public Health and Disease Surveillance teams to align technical solutions with clinical requirements.
  • Utilize DevOps tools and JIRA for project tracking, version control, and continuous integration workflows.
  • Provide technical guidance on Windows OS Server Administration as it relates to the Rhapsody environment.

Technical Environment and Expectations

The integration landscape involves high-volume data processing where precision is paramount. You will be working within a sophisticated ecosystem that includes LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and REDCAP. Experience with LOINC and SNOMED coding standards is highly preferred to ensure clinical data standardization. Furthermore, the role involves handling FASTQ files and demultiplexing processes, requiring a deep understanding of genomic data workflows. Candidates should be comfortable working in an agile environment, participating in daily stand-ups, and documenting all architectural changes. The project demands a proactive approach to identifying bottlenecks in data pipelines and implementing automated solutions using Excel/VBA Macros or Power Automate flows where applicable.

Professional Growth and Impact

As a Senior Engineer, you will influence the architectural direction of the client’s integration strategy. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-visibility projects that directly impact public health outcomes. You will be expected to mentor junior staff and contribute to the internal knowledge base regarding Rhapsody best practices. The long-term nature of this contract provides stability and the chance to see large-scale implementations from conception through to maturity.
