Role Overview

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) IT Division is actively seeking a highly skilled and visionary Salesforce Solution Expert/Architect. This pivotal role is dedicated to leading the prestigious Early Education Integration System project for the Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE). As a senior technical leader, you will be responsible for the in-house design and delivery of secure, scalable, and user-centric Salesforce solutions that align with the state’s broader digital strategy. This position requires a unique blend of strategic foresight and hands-on technical mastery to bridge the gap between complex business requirements and robust enterprise architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect end-to-end Salesforce solutions that support the DCDEE’s mission, ensuring all designs are sustainable and future-proof.
  • Collaborate extensively with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Technical Leads, and executive stakeholders to translate high-level business scopes into precise, cost-effective technical blueprints.
  • Lead the implementation of sophisticated API-based integration strategies, facilitating seamless data flow between Salesforce and various external legacy and modern systems.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous data security and performance standards across the entire Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Develop and oversee comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity for critical early education services.
  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle, providing expert justification for the use of standard Salesforce functionality versus custom development.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation, including detailed data models, solution diagrams, and architectural maps.
  • Facilitate technical workshops, design sessions, and code reviews to maintain the highest standards of engineering excellence.
  • Partner with Agile teams to refine backlogs, decompose user stories, and define clear acceptance criteria.
  • Manage Salesforce environment setups and optimize CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard release management tools.

Technical Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Salesforce platform, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud. You must demonstrate a proven track record of designing complex integrations using REST/SOAP APIs and middleware solutions. Experience within the public sector or large-scale government IT projects is highly desirable. Candidates should be proficient in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Salesforce Flow, while also maintaining a strong grasp of governance and governor limits. Leadership skills are essential, as you will be guiding cross-functional teams through the complexities of a large-scale digital transformation. A passion for continuous innovation and a commitment to delivering user-focused solutions are the hallmarks of success in this role.
