Position Overview: SAP BTP RAP Developer
Epic Systems, Inc. is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAP BTP RAP Developer for a long-term, 100% remote contract opportunity. This role is designed for a technical expert with over 12 years of experience in the SAP ecosystem, specifically focusing on the Business Technology Platform (BTP) and the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing modern, cloud-ready applications that integrate seamlessly with SAP S/4HANA, following the ‘Clean Core’ philosophy to ensure future-proof extensibility.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Duties
- RESTful Service Development: You will be responsible for the design and implementation of enterprise-grade OData services (V2 and V4) using the ABAP RAP framework. This includes creating services that facilitate efficient communication between backend systems and modern Fiori-based front-end applications.
- Business Object (BO) Modeling: Define and implement robust business objects using Behavior Definitions (BDEF) and Behavior Implementations (BP). You will manage both managed and unmanaged transactional logic, including the development of custom actions, determinations, and validations.
- Advanced Data Modeling: Architect complex data models using ABAP Core Data Services (CDS). You will utilize advanced annotations to control UI behavior, search capabilities, and analytical features within Fiori Elements applications.
- ABAP Cloud & Steampunk: Apply ABAP Cloud principles to develop side-by-side extensibility solutions on the SAP BTP ABAP Environment (Steampunk). Your work will ensure that the digital core remains stable and upgradeable by keeping custom code separate from standard SAP objects.
- Integration & Eventing: Implement asynchronous communication patterns using SAP Business Events within the RAP framework. You will also consume external APIs and orchestrate hybrid workflows across diverse SAP and non-SAP landscapes using the BTP Integration Suite.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 12 years of professional experience in SAP development. A deep understanding of the SAP BTP Integration Suite and hands-on experience with the RAP framework are mandatory. We are looking for individuals who have a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable solutions in complex enterprise environments. Experience with SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, and cloud-native development patterns is highly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Screening and Compliance Requirements
This position has strict compliance and screening protocols. Candidates must be either US Citizens or Green Card (GC) holders. For GC holders, providing a copy of the Green Card and a mandatory Passport Number is required at the time of submission. Additionally, Epic Systems, Inc. requires a video screening interview where a screenshot will be taken after the 15-minute mark. This screenshot, which will not contain sensitive government ID information, is a mandatory requirement for the client submission package. Candidates must provide explicit consent for this process. For C2C engagements, the vendor company must be an Incorporated (INC) entity.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
