Role Overview
The SAP BTP WorkZone Advanced Edition Consultant is a pivotal role within our digital transformation initiative. As organizations move toward a “Clean Core” strategy, the ability to leverage SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) becomes essential. This position focuses on the Advanced Edition of WorkZone, which provides a unified entry point for users to access business applications, processes, and information across various systems. The successful candidate will be an expert in the SAP Restful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), which is the standard for building cloud-ready, optimized applications on BTP. You will be tasked with creating complex Core Data Services (CDS) views that serve as the foundation for data modeling and service exposure. Your expertise in RAP behavior definitions will allow for the implementation of transactional logic, including draft handling and side effects, ensuring a modern and responsive user interface.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end OData V4 services using RAP and integrate with UI frameworks such as Fiori Elements and UI5.
- Develop reusable CDS artifacts, business logic, and extensibility frameworks within the BTP ecosystem.
- Integrate SAP BTP applications with S4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP Cloud Integration (CPI), Event Mesh, and Destination Service.
- Optimize performance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and ensure compliance with SAP clean core and cloud-ready coding practices.
- Collaborate with architects, functional consultants, and DevOps teams to design secure and scalable solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and contribute to architecture discussions.
- Manage source code using Git-enabled Change and Transport System (gCTS) or ABAP Git.
Technical Requirements
Integration is a core component of this role. You will work extensively with SAP Cloud Integration (CPI) to bridge the gap between on-premise S4HANA or ECC systems and the cloud. This involves configuring the Destination Service, Cloud Connector, and Identity Authentication Service (IAS) / Identity Provisioning Service (IPS). Furthermore, you will utilize Event Mesh for asynchronous communication and event-driven architectures. Performance optimization is critical; you will be expected to troubleshoot bottlenecks in OData V4 services and ensure that Fiori Elements applications are responsive and intuitive. Beyond technical execution, you will participate in architectural discussions, providing insights into scalable design patterns and best practices for multi-tenant application development. Documentation is also a key requirement, as you will produce technical specifications and design documents that will guide the development lifecycle. Experience with Git-enabled Change and Transport System (gCTS) or ABAP Git is required to manage source code in a modern DevOps environment. This is a high-impact role that requires a blend of deep technical skill and the ability to collaborate effectively with functional consultants and business stakeholders to deliver world-class SAP solutions.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $185,000 – $255,000 per year (Estimated)
