Role Overview

The SAP Controlling (CO) Lead Consultant is a senior-level position responsible for executing controlling structure consolidation activities within a multi-entity, multi-instance SAP ECC landscape. This role is pivotal in a post-merger finance stabilization project, where the primary goal is to stabilize allocation logic, intercompany controlling flows, and profitability reporting. This is a hands-on execution role that requires direct participation in mock conversions, cutover execution, and the validation of the first consolidated financial close.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consolidate and harmonize controlling structures across merged company codes and SAP instances.
  • Rationalize and realign cost centers, profit centers, internal orders, and reporting hierarchies to ensure consistency.
  • Reconfigure and validate assessments, distributions, settlements, and cross-company allocations.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex FICO reconciliation issues impacting the trial balance, intercompany balances, and margin reporting.
  • Validate controlling balance migration and intercompany allocations during mock conversion cycles.
  • Coordinate with GTM, SD, and Finance teams to protect the integrity of profitability reporting.
  • Lead CO validation activities during conversion cycles and cutover weekends in live production environments.
  • Support the first consolidated close and confirm the accuracy of profitability and allocation data across merged entities.
  • Triage allocation and reconciliation defects under compressed stabilization timelines.

Required Experience

  • 12-15 years of total SAP experience, with a minimum of 8+ years focused specifically on SAP ECC CO.
  • Direct hands-on participation in at least two legal entity consolidations, carve-ins/outs, or post-merger ERP integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience stabilizing controlling structures in multi-instance or multi-template SAP environments.
  • Strong expertise in intercompany allocation and cross-company reconciliation.
  • Active involvement in period-end close processes during structural integration phases.
  • Deep hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting assessments, distributions, settlements, and profitability reporting structures.
  • Strong FICO integration expertise with significant exposure to trial balance reconciliation.
  • Experience operating in environments with imperfect data conditions, requiring pragmatic and decisive resolution.

Success Profile and Environment

The successful candidate will understand margin sensitivity in commodity and trading-driven environments and be able to quickly identify allocation breakdowns. Decisive adjustments are required to protect close timelines, and effective communication with Controllers and Finance leadership is essential. This role requires a high level of accountability during conversion and the first close. The work model is onsite/onshore with 50-100% travel required, operating on US Central Time hours. Candidates must be willing to work extended hours during mock conversions and cutover periods.

Special Requirements

50-100% travel required; US Central Time hours; Max 12-15 years experience; Rate is $90/hr C2C plus expenses; Post-merger stabilization domain.
