Role Overview
The SAP EWM HANA Consultant role is a critical position within the modern supply chain landscape, particularly for organizations operating in the high-stakes Manufacturing and Semiconductor industries. As we move into 2026, the integration of SAP S/4HANA with Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) has become the gold standard for operational efficiency. This position requires a deep understanding of how material flows through complex environments like semiconductor fabs and OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facilities. Candidates must possess over a decade of hands-on experience, demonstrating a mastery of both embedded and decentralized EWM architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of SAP EWM in S/4HANA environments (version 1809 or later).
- Develop end-to-end warehouse processes including inbound, outbound, internal movements, and production supply.
- Configure advanced EWM capabilities such as RF framework, Slotting & rearrangement, and Labor management.
- Manage Wave management and Batch/serial handling for high-precision components.
- Integrate EWM with MM, PP, QM, and TM modules to ensure a unified supply chain.
- Design warehouse and logistics flows tailored to semiconductor fabs, including cleanroom material handling.
- Support material movement processes such as Kanban and production staging.
- Track serialized components and manage tooling and spare parts.
- Write functional specifications and collaborate with ABAP and integration teams for custom enhancements.
- Lead stakeholder management and provide functional leadership during digital transformation initiatives.
Detailed Technical Requirements
The consultant will be responsible for the end-to-end solution design, from initial requirement gathering to final deployment and hyper-care support. Key technical areas include the configuration of the RF framework to support mobile data entry, the implementation of advanced slotting and rearrangement strategies to optimize warehouse space, and the setup of labor management to track and improve workforce productivity. Furthermore, the role demands expertise in wave management and batch/serial number handling, which are essential for the precision required in semiconductor manufacturing. Integration is a major component of this role; the consultant must ensure seamless data exchange between EWM and other SAP modules such as Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), Quality Management (QM), and Transportation Management (TM). In the semiconductor context, this includes managing cleanroom material handling, Kanban-driven production staging, and the tracking of highly sensitive serialized components. The ideal candidate will not only be a technical expert but also a strategic partner who can translate business needs into scalable, robust technical solutions. They will write detailed functional specifications, collaborate closely with ABAP developers for custom enhancements, and lead stakeholder meetings to align project goals with corporate objectives. Excellent communication skills are paramount, as the consultant will interact with diverse teams across different time zones and functional areas. This is a unique opportunity to lead digital transformation initiatives that directly impact the global supply chain of high-tech components. The candidate must be comfortable working in fast-paced environments where yield and cycle time are critical metrics. Experience with automated material handling systems (AMHS) and integration with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is highly desirable. As a senior consultant, you will also be expected to mentor junior staff and contribute to the internal knowledge base regarding best practices in EWM for the high-tech sector.
Special Requirements
Domain restrictions: Manufacturing and Semiconductor operations. Requires 10+ years of experience. Experience with SAP S/4HANA 1809 or later preferred.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
