Role Overview: SAP PPDS Consultant
We are seeking a highly experienced SAP PPDS (Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling) Consultant for a long-term, onsite engagement in Normal, Illinois. This role is critical for a major manufacturing initiative requiring deep technical and functional expertise in SAP S/4HANA PPDS. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of professional experience in SAP modules, with a specific focus on advanced planning and scheduling within the S/4HANA environment for at least the last 4 years.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Depth
- S/4HANA PPDS Implementation: Lead the configuration and deployment of SAP S/4HANA PPDS, ensuring seamless integration with core SAP modules such as Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Quality Management (QM).
- Capacity Planning & Detailed Scheduling: Manage daily operations involving complex capacity constraints. You will be responsible for fine-tuning the scheduling of production orders to maximize throughput while minimizing downtime.
- Heuristics and Optimizers: Configure and optimize planning heuristics and the PPDS Optimizer to solve complex scheduling problems. This includes defining cost profiles, penalty costs, and optimization parameters to align with business objectives.
- Manufacturing Domain Expertise: Apply deep knowledge of both Discrete Manufacturing and Repetitive Manufacturing environments. You must understand the distinct requirements of each, from shop floor control to high-volume production line stability.
- Data Integration: Oversee the data transfer and integration processes within S/4HANA, ensuring that master data (Work Centers, Resources, PDS/PPM) is accurately synchronized for planning purposes.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Act as the primary point of contact for resolving complex PPDS issues, including performance tuning and resolving inconsistencies between planning and execution.
Advanced Requirements
The successful candidate will demonstrate a mastery of the SAP Planning Board and Alert Monitor. Experience with S/4HANA IPPE (Integrated Product & Process Engineering) and Variant Configuration is highly desirable as these tools often intersect with complex PPDS environments. You will be expected to lead workshops, gather requirements from business stakeholders, and translate those into robust technical designs. This role demands a hands-on approach, where you will not only design the solution but also perform the configuration and testing required for a successful go-live.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
