Position Overview: SAP Product Costing Specialist
In the dynamic landscape of 2026 manufacturing, the role of an SAP Product Costing Consultant is more critical than ever. We are seeking a highly experienced professional to join our team onsite in Santa Clara, California, for a long-term contract engagement. This role is designed for an expert with over 10 years of hands-on experience in the SAP ecosystem, specifically focusing on the intricacies of Product Costing and the Material Ledger. As a key member of our financial systems team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our manufacturing costing processes. This involves a deep understanding of how financial data flows through the organization and how it impacts our bottom line. Your expertise will be vital in helping us navigate the complexities of modern manufacturing and maintain a competitive edge in the global market. As we transition to SAP S/4HANA, your expertise in the Universal Journal and its impact on Product Costing will be invaluable. You will be responsible for configuring the new Actual Costing features and ensuring a seamless migration of historical data. The Santa Clara manufacturing hub is characterized by high-volume, high-complexity production environments, and your ability to manage complex BOMs (Bills of Materials) and routing structures within SAP will be crucial.
Core Technical Responsibilities
- Product Costing (with Material Ledger) implementation and optimization.
- Production Order Processing and variance analysis.
- Activity Allocation and overhead management.
- Inventory Management and valuation strategies.
- Cost Roll-Up execution and validation.
- Month-End Closing Activities and financial reconciliation.
The primary focus of this role is the implementation and management of SAP Product Costing modules. You will be expected to have a profound understanding of Material Ledger, which is essential for actual costing and parallel valuation. Your daily tasks will include production order processing, activity allocation, and inventory management. You will be responsible for the cost roll-up process, ensuring that all product costs are accurately calculated and reflected in our financial statements. Furthermore, you will lead month-end closing activities, ensuring that all financial data is reconciled and reported accurately. This requires a meticulous attention to detail and a thorough understanding of SAP’s financial and controlling modules. Your ability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide innovative solutions will be key to your success in this role. You will also work on integrating SAP Product Costing with other modules such as Production Planning (PP) and Materials Management (MM) to provide a holistic view of our manufacturing operations. This includes leveraging SAP Fiori for enhanced user experiences and real-time reporting.
