Role Overview
The SAP RTR FICO Consultant position is a high-impact role designed for a seasoned professional capable of navigating the complexities of Record-to-Report (R2R) processes within a modern manufacturing environment. As we progress into 2026, the integration of financial systems with real-time operational data has become a critical requirement for enterprise agility. This role is based onsite in Normal, Illinois, and requires a consultant who can bridge the gap between deep functional accounting knowledge and advanced SAP technical configuration. You will be responsible for ensuring that the financial backbone of the organization is robust, compliant, and optimized for the S/4HANA era.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the functional design and implementation of SAP Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) modules, with a specific focus on the Record-to-Report (R2R) lifecycle.
- Configure and maintain General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Asset Accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manage the end-to-end financial close process, including monthly, quarterly, and annual activities, ensuring all reconciliations and accruals are handled with precision.
- Support manufacturing-specific finance functions, including Product Costing (CO-PC) and Material Ledger, to provide insights into production costs and inventory valuation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Production Planning (PP) to ensure seamless integration and data integrity.
- Translate complex business requirements into detailed functional specifications for technical teams and ABAP developers.
- Drive process optimization initiatives aimed at reducing manual effort and increasing the accuracy of financial insights through automation.
- Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and provide expert-level support during system upgrades and migration phases.

In the current landscape, an SAP FICO Consultant must do more than just configure tables; they must act as a strategic advisor. With the maturation of S/4HANA, the expectation is for real-time analytics and predictive financial modeling. You will be expected to leverage the Universal Journal to provide a single source of truth for the organization, enabling faster decision-making and more transparent reporting. Your role will involve navigating the nuances of global accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) while maintaining a local focus on manufacturing efficiency.
Strategic Impact and Collaboration
This position requires a consultant who can communicate effectively with both C-suite executives and shop-floor managers. You will be tasked with identifying bottlenecks in the financial workflow and proposing innovative solutions that leverage the latest SAP features. Whether it is optimizing intercompany transactions or refining profitability analysis (CO-PA), your work will directly impact the company’s bottom line. You will also mentor junior team members and contribute to the broader IT strategy, ensuring that the SAP landscape evolves in tandem with the business’s growth.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of overall IT experience, with at least 5 years of hands-on SAP FI-CO configuration.
- Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance and a deep understanding of its architectural advantages.
- Proven expertise in manufacturing finance, including cost center accounting and internal orders.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex integration issues across multiple SAP modules.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or a related field.
Special Requirements
Onsite requirement in Normal, IL. 10+ years overall IT experience required.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $175,000 – $225,000 per year (Estimated)
