Role Overview
The SAP S-4HANA Public Cloud Deployment Lead is a high-level strategic position designed for a seasoned professional capable of navigating the complexities of modern cloud ERP implementations. As organizations transition from legacy on-premise systems to the agility of the SAP Public Cloud, this role serves as the primary architect of the deployment journey. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of the deployment, ensuring that the transition is seamless, secure, and aligned with global business objectives. This position requires a unique blend of technical SAP expertise, project management rigor, and executive-level communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Deployment Strategy & Cutover Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive deployment strategies that minimize business disruption. This includes detailed cutover planning, managing technical dress rehearsals, and orchestrating the final ‘Go-Live’ sequence with precision.
- Governance and Compliance: Lead rigorous stage gate reviews to ensure that every phase of the SAP Activate methodology is completed to the highest standard. Maintain strict adherence to governance frameworks and compliance checkpoints, ensuring that all regulatory and internal audit requirements are satisfied.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks associated with cloud deployments, including data integrity issues, integration failures, and user adoption hurdles. Develop and implement robust mitigation strategies to keep the project on track and within budget.
- Methodology Leadership: Champion the SAP Activate and Agile/Hybrid delivery models. Guide the project team through the ‘Prepare, Explore, Realize, and Deploy’ phases, ensuring that the standard-led approach of the Public Cloud is maintained to avoid unnecessary customizations.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Maintain high-level awareness of integration points across Finance, Business Intelligence (BI), Reporting, and Data Migration. Ensure that data flows seamlessly between the SAP S/4HANA core and peripheral systems, providing a single source of truth for the enterprise.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for senior leadership regarding deployment progress. Translate complex technical challenges into actionable business insights and drive consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates must possess a deep technical foundation in SAP S/4HANA, specifically within the Public Cloud edition. Expertise in SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) for extensions and integrations is highly desirable. The role demands a professional who has led at least two full-lifecycle SAP Public Cloud implementations from inception to post-production support. Familiarity with the latest SAP Fiori interface, embedded analytics, and the ‘Clean Core’ strategy is essential. Furthermore, the candidate should demonstrate proficiency in managing hybrid teams across multiple time zones, leveraging tools like SAP Cloud ALM for project orchestration.

This role is based in Montvale, New Jersey, offering a dynamic environment within a major corporate hub. The position is offered on a C2C (Contract-to-Contract) basis, catering to independent consultants or specialized firms. As a Deployment Lead, you will be at the forefront of digital transformation, helping the client leverage the full potential of cloud computing to drive innovation and operational excellence. The project environment is fast-paced and requires a leader who can remain calm under pressure while driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $185,000 – $245,000 per year (Estimated)
