Position Summary: Scala Developer
We are looking for a talented and motivated Scala Developer for a contract position based in Mount Laurel, NJ. This role is onsite and involves working within a high-performance team to build and maintain sophisticated data processing applications. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in Scala and the Spark ecosystem to handle large-scale data challenges and contribute to the continuous improvement of our technical infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust Spark applications using Scala, Spark SQL, and other tools within the Spark ecosystem.
- Build and optimize data processing pipelines using Big Data technologies such as Hadoop and HDFS.
- Utilize distributed computing frameworks to process and analyze large-scale datasets efficiently.
- Perform Java backend development, including coding, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and technical review calls.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, propose effective fixes, and manage deployments in lower environments.
- Conduct thorough unit testing and maintain detailed test results to ensure code reliability.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and participate in peer code reviews.
Technical Requirements and Skills
- Proven development experience with Scala and the Spark ecosystem, including Spark SQL and Hive.
- Hands-on experience building Spark applications and working with distributed computing frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of Big Data technologies, specifically Hadoop and HDFS.
- Solid background in Java backend development and debugging.
- Proficiency with version control and CI/CD tools such as GIT/BitBucket, Gradle, Jenkins, and Jira.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment and a strong understanding of the Agile way of working.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
- Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
