Position Overview: Backend Developer (Scala/Python/Golang)
We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Developer with expertise in Scala, Python, and Golang to join our EP tech team. This is a brand-new position within a team of 6 members, including a Product Owner. The successful candidate will be responsible for system enhancements, assisting in complex migrations, and providing high-level production support. This role is specifically targeted at candidates who have prior experience working with Capital One, as the project environment is highly specialized.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance backend services using Scala, Python, or Golang.
- Focus on Golang development as a primary requirement for new components.
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure using AWS services, specifically Lambda, ECS, and DynamoDB.
- Execute deployments within ECS, Fargate, and Lambda environments.
- Support large-scale migration projects and ensure system stability through production support.
- Collaborate with the PO and team members to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
- Maintain a strong focus on backend development with minimal frontend requirements.
Technical Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Golang (Mandatory).
- Experience with Scala and Python; preference for candidates with Scala and Golang expertise over Java.
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud services: Lambda, ECS, Fargate, and DynamoDB.
- Proven track record in backend development and production support.
- Prior experience working at Capital One is a strict requirement for this role.
Project Context and Environment
The EP tech team is expanding to handle new modernization and migration initiatives. This role offers a 12-month contract duration with no current extension planned. The work model is hybrid, with a preference for candidates located near McLean, VA, though Richmond, VA is also an acceptable location. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, cloud-native environment with a focus on serverless and containerized architectures.
Special Requirements
ONLY Prior Capital One experience accepted. Golang is a must. Hybrid work in McLean, VA or Richmond, VA. 12-month duration with no extension.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $205,000 per year (Estimated)
