Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Scrum Master for a critical 6-month hybrid engagement in Boston, MA. This role is specifically designed for a professional with a deep background in the financial services sector, particularly within asset management and investment banking. As a Scrum Master, you will be embedded within the Investor Research team, facilitating agile ceremonies and driving delivery for high-stakes trading and operations projects. This position requires a local presence in Boston, with a requirement to be on-site three days per week. The ideal candidate will not only possess technical mastery of Scrum and Kanban but will also bring a forward-thinking mindset regarding the integration of Generative AI into agile workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate all standard Scrum ceremonies, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, and Retrospectives, ensuring the team remains focused on high-value deliverables.
- Coach and mentor team members on Agile principles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and self-organization.
- Manage and optimize workflow using Kanban methodologies where appropriate, focusing on cycle time, lead time, and throughput.
- Identify and remove impediments that hinder the team’s progress, while proactively managing risks and dependencies across multiple workstreams.
- Partner closely with Product Owners to ensure the backlog is healthy, prioritized, and aligned with the strategic goals of the Investor Research and Trading teams.
- Leverage Generative AI tools and techniques to enhance team productivity and streamline agile processes, as per the hiring manager’s strategic direction.
- Communicate effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders, providing transparency into team velocity, health, and delivery timelines.
- Support the scaling of Agile practices across the domain, potentially participating in Scrum-of-Scrums to align multiple teams.
- Build and leverage effective alliances across other teams and the technical and business communities to ensure seamless delivery.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 8 years of dedicated experience as a Scrum Master in complex, enterprise environments.
- At least 3 years of experience specifically within the Financial Services or Investment Banking sectors.
- 6+ years of experience working within an Asset Management firm, demonstrating a deep understanding of the industry’s unique operational and regulatory challenges.
- Proven expertise in both Scrum and Kanban frameworks, with the ability to adapt methodologies to suit the specific needs of the team.
- Strong background in supporting Investor Research, Trading, or Operations teams within a financial context.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and influence senior stakeholders.
- Must be local to the Boston area and able to commit to a hybrid schedule (3 days on-site).
- Ability to participate in a multi-stage interview process, including a mandatory final round face-to-face interview in Boston.
Preferred Skills
- Experience or strong interest in Generative AI (Gen AI) and its application within software development and agile management.
- Professional certifications such as CSM (Certified Scrum Master), PSM (Professional Scrum Master), or SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
- Prior experience in programming or software development, providing a technical foundation for understanding team challenges.
- Experience with Agile management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.

Special Requirements
Must be local to Boston area only. Interview process: 1-2 rounds virtual and final round F2F (Must be able to interview in person). Domain restriction: 3+ years financial/investment banking background. Manager preference: Gen AI experience.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
