Role Overview: Security Engineer
Sysmind is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Engineer for a critical onsite contract position in Schaumburg, IL. As we move into 2026, the landscape of cybersecurity has become increasingly complex, requiring professionals who can not only implement security measures but also design resilient patterns that protect enterprise-level assets. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our system solutions are compliant with the latest InfoSec standards and that our data integrity remains uncompromised.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Scope
- Design Pattern Validation: You will be responsible for reviewing and validating design patterns for various system solutions. This includes ensuring that all architectural decisions align with established InfoSec compliance frameworks.
- API and Web App Security: A significant portion of this role involves owning the management of security patterns for APIs, Web Applications, and Batch processes. You will define robust authentication and authorization patterns to safeguard these interfaces.
- Data Protection and Privacy: You will manage session management protocols, auditing procedures, and the handling of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This includes conducting thorough reviews based on secure coding practices to prevent data leaks.
- Compliance Management: You will own and manage PCIDSS-related system designs, ensuring that all systems comply with these rigorous financial standards.
- Vulnerability Assessment: The role requires handling standards around Penetration testing and managing correspondence related to Primeon security assessments.
- Identity Management: You will design system data authorizations for web applications and system interfaces, ensuring that access is granted on a least-privilege basis.
Required Technical Expertise
- Hands-on experience with SSO Middleware such as Siteminder, Ping Identity, or similar platforms.
- Deep understanding of Active Directory structures, user credentials, and group management.
- Practical experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF) like Akamai or Softbank.
- Strong knowledge of modern authentication patterns including OAuth, OIDC, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Bilingual capabilities are highly preferred for this role to facilitate communication across diverse teams.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
