Job Opportunity: Senior AI Platform/Backend Software Engineer (Remote)
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior AI Platform/Backend Software Engineer for a remote contract position. This role is ideal for experienced professionals passionate about building cutting-edge AI systems.
Role Summary
The primary focus of this role is to design and deploy agentic AI workflows that seamlessly connect Large Language Models (LLMs) and custom machine learning models into robust backend architectures. You will leverage modern frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, PydanticAI, or SemanticKernel to achieve this. The position also involves designing sophisticated systems for multi-agent coordination and implementing multi-step reasoning loops with effective memory management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy agentic AI workflows integrating LLMs and custom ML models into backend architectures using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, PydanticAI, or SemanticKernel.
- Develop systems for multi-agent coordination and multi-step reasoning loops, including memory management.
- Build and maintain efficient data ingestion pipelines and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate) to support Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for AI agents.
- Implement tracing mechanisms (e.g., LangSmith, Langfuse) and develop evaluation pipelines to accurately measure AI model accuracy, latency, and cost.
- Design comprehensive testing strategies for non-deterministic AI outputs, including the implementation of guardrails and safety constraints.
- Deploy and orchestrate containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, with a preference for Azure.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- 12+ years of professional experience in software engineering or backend systems development.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience specifically in AI technologies, including building APIs, integrating LLMs, designing RAG pipelines, and deploying scalable microservices.
- Strong applied expertise with AI frameworks like LangChain, FastAPI, CrewAI, and cloud platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Azure Foundry and Azure OpenAI.
Additional Information:
- This is a remote position, with a preference for candidates on the East Coast.
- The contract duration is expected to be 6-12 months.
