Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Cloud Engineer for a long-term contract engagement located onsite in Minneapolis, MN. This pivotal role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust AWS cloud infrastructure specifically tailored to support Best Buy’s suite of applications and services. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability of our cloud ecosystem while driving innovation through modern DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain sophisticated AWS cloud infrastructure to support high-traffic retail applications and backend services.
  • Implement industry best practices for cloud security, proactive monitoring, and continuous performance optimization to ensure 99.9% uptime.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and product owners, to integrate cloud-native solutions into existing legacy systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to cloud infrastructure, networking, and service interdependencies.
  • Stay at the forefront of AWS service updates, features, and industry trends to recommend architectural improvements and cost-saving measures.
  • Participate in a mandatory on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical cloud-related incidents and emergencies.

Technical Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of proven experience as a Cloud Engineer with a primary focus on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • 5+ years of experience in Configuration Management using enterprise tools such as Chef and Ansible.
  • In-depth knowledge of core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, and Lambda.
  • Strong understanding of advanced networking, security protocols, and scalability concepts within complex cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging suites such as AWS CloudWatch and Splunk.
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies and a deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • AWS Certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, is highly preferred.

Soft Skills and Education

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong collaborative mindset for working across diverse engineering teams.
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.

Special Requirements

Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for cloud related incidents and emergencies.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $155,000 – $205,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Minneapolis, MN
