Role Overview
The Senior BI Engineer will be a pivotal member of our data analytics team, focusing on the Healthcare sector. This 100% remote position requires a deep understanding of Power BI, SQL, and PostgreSQL to drive data-driven decision-making across Finance, Product, and Sales departments. As a senior professional, you will be responsible for the entire Business Intelligence lifecycle, ensuring that data models are robust, reports are insightful, and the platform remains secure and performant. You will act as a bridge between technical data engineering teams and business stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable insights that improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Power BI datasets and semantic models that serve as the single source of truth for the organization.
- Create visually compelling and highly functional dashboards and reports using DAX and advanced visualization techniques to support executive decision-making.
- Write and optimize complex SQL and PostgreSQL queries to extract, transform, and load data from various sources, ensuring high performance and data integrity.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to define data product standards and ensure seamless integration between data pipelines and BI tools.
- Manage the Power BI service environment, including workspace administration, security configurations (RLS), and scheduled refresh pipelines.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions with stakeholders to validate data accuracy and ensure business requirements are met.
- Document technical specifications, data dictionaries, and user guides to support the long-term scalability of the BI ecosystem.
- Perform data modeling and performance optimization to handle large-scale healthcare datasets efficiently.
- Partner with Finance, Product, and Sales teams to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and build reporting solutions that track business growth.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 4-6 years of professional experience in Business Intelligence or Data Engineering.
- Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query (M), and complex data modeling.
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and SQL Server, with the ability to tune queries for large-scale datasets.
- Proven experience working within the Healthcare Insurance domain, understanding industry-specific metrics and compliance requirements such as HIPAA.
- Familiarity with AWS data warehousing environments and semi-structured data formats like JSON.
- Experience in BI platform administration, including governance, security, and lifecycle management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.
Domain Expertise & Compliance
Given the healthcare focus, the candidate must demonstrate a solid understanding of healthcare insurance data, including claims processing, member enrollment, and provider network management. You will be expected to adhere to strict data privacy standards and ensure that all BI solutions are compliant with federal and state regulations. This role requires a proactive individual who can anticipate the needs of the business and provide innovative data solutions that drive competitive advantage in the healthcare market.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $40 – $85 per year
